Ann, MK, it goes so much faster than you can even imagine. Thirty four years ago this past Sunday I gave birth to a whopping nine pound five ounce son. THIRTY FOUR YEARS! He is way taller than me and teaches me things now and pats me on the head and....oh help....but we have stayed best friends through all the years and that is really, really special. And this past summer he married the most marvelous young lady!
I'll be sixty next year. But I'm still about 25 underneath. It's just that underneath means a LOT of extra layers now! Not so much in flesh as in years, experiences and sometimes even wisdom. So many people have passed into and out of my life. Sometimes I will remember a face and there is a sudden bit of shock with "OH, that's right!...."
So fast...
But today is a glorious, absolutely glorious day. Yesterday Barry finally went to the doctor because I was so concerned about his heart. We both knew he suffered from sleep apnea and there have been times I will wake up and realize he's not breathing and pat him and say, "Breathe, Barry!"
Deep breath..."Thanks, Sweetheart...." snore....
Barry listed his symptoms to the doctor and the diagnosis? The massive congestion he has had for months is not a 'bug' and not an allergy, but the sleep apnea. The horrid tiredness that has been plaguing him? From sleep apnea. It can even damage the heart, although his EKG was fine.
Dr. put him on prednisone. I thought that was a funny Rx for this problem but lo and behold Barry slept like a baby last night and almost no congestion at all. As a result, with less snoring and restlessness on his part, I slept like a baby, too. I am so grateful! He is still asleep as I type this, but he woke up with me for a bit about an hour ago and was cheerful and breathing clearly. It was wonderful!
I am so in love with this man! It was seven years ago my son, mentioned above, and I flew together to Australia where he would give me away to Barry in marriage and read the Scripture at our wedding. This year Barry officiated at his marriage.
This is a beautiful, beautiful day and the rain clouds have even cleared for a moment to give us some wonderful blue sky.
God bless you all!
