But, that's only one year.

In Illinois, we chop ice and shovel snow EVERY year and are without power at least once every winter.

I chop ice off my windshield a LOT...

When you get older, you will realize that what used to be called fun is now called WORK.

By the way, I comprehend that as ya get older you don't tend to like snow as much . . . or camping, or exploring, or parties, or fun and games, or . . .

But if you want to buy me a plane ticket I'll come up and help you shovel snow.

Er, that above was a joke, by the way. :(

But anyway, I know. I lived in Maine all my life until college. We had the same deal--snow every year, and power out a lot.

My brother Mike and I used to make a lot of money shoveling snow in Pekin growing up. It was great to be out there in the white stuff, shovel in hand, sweating up a storm for....oh, who am I kidding? LOL

I love bicycling, fishing, camping, exploring, parties, gardening, AND fun and games.

I just don't like SNOW!

Thanks for the offer, but I'm still young enough to shovel snow and do all the other outside jobs that I do all the time.

Yeah, I know.
I guess for me stacking firewood was worse than the snow. Because we all had to help--even all 4 girls. And it was a monumental task--stacking firewood to heat a huge house ALL winter in Maine .. .

<--------- has breathing problems, including asthma, as well as post nasal drip and allergies

Cold weather really irritates my asthma

Stay fun, yes. Always be fun, no matter how old ya get. I'm also an advocate for the National Association of Fun People Getting On in Years. :D And you guys ARE fun, else I wouldn't bother postin' with ya.

I have to 'stay fun' because I'm raising an 11-year-old grandson.

He is either going to keep me young or kill me and I vacillate between the two several times a week.

Old age is NOT for sissies.

My parents are still raising a 12 yr. old son and a 10 yr. old daugther of their own, and my dad's 57. He's not going to be able to retire until he's well on in his 60's.

How old is your mom?

We're not planning on retiring here EVER. I will be 61 in November. My oldest child is 42 and my youngest child is 33.

My mom will be 51 this year.
There are 16 years between my oldest brother, Jim and my youngest sister, Phoebe. So when Phoebe's 33, Jim will be 49.

I doubt that my parents will retire ever either; was just pointing out that they wouldn't even be able to until then. I know my dad will never settle down and "relax." He's always doing something. Never stops moving.

My mom was 44 when she had me, so when she was the age I am now, I was 16.

It's a little different when you start raising one when you're 60 and haven't had any around to raise for 15 years.

Plus, I am home schooling him. It's a new experience for both of us, but he is doing so well, I don't regret it at all.

Yep, and my dad will be 63 when the youngest is 16.

Well, I'm really glad you are able to take care of him.
My parents homeschooled me and all my siblings all the way through--just 2 at home now.

I will be 70 when Brent turns 18 and goes to college.

My only prayer is that I can stick around long enough (and have the stamina and fitness of mind) to finish what I started...

Hey Tony!

Snow and cold weather takes on a whole new meaning when you have Chronic Bronchitis and other breathing problems, heh? :(
Yes, it does. I have asthma and chronic sinusitus and usually end up with acute bronchitis or pneumonia every year. I thought I had fought it off this year...No such luck!

I had three serious bouts of Bronchitis this year and my first case of Pneumonia (which kept me off work for six weeks). Right now I have Pharyngitis that I am back on meds for, but so far I've only missed three days. I went back to work this morning...

Jim: That picture sure looks like me this past winter!
