It is definately time for a new heat pump here. I pay quite a bit more for electricity than ya'll are.

T won't do gas though(I don't even know why not). We do use our gas logs a lot though. Those things will heat 90% of the house by themselves.

Heat pump replacement is on the agenda for this fall. The guy told us when he was out time before last that we'd never get heat out of it again. We're lucky that we're getting air.

So by the time we replace the dryer, the pool, and the heat pump there won't be much left in this house to replace. We've replaced just about everything there is to replace except some carpet and we're working on that! The dining room is next on the block. Whoever heard of light beige carpeting on a dining room floor?????

Hope everyone's had a good day. I did the doctor for myself today and found out I hadn't been there since last year! I guess when I do fall apart everything goes at once! Anywhoo, doc says a round of steriods should fix what's wrong with me from the allergies to the now diagnosed bad tendon in my ankle. I start those tomorrow, since the day was half over before I got the prescription filled.

My kids were fascinated by my hanging clothes out on my new clothline. I hate to spend money on a used dryer that is only going to spend a month in my house, and have to move two dryers in and two out(too much work). Unless something changes my mind very quickly, the clothline and a kind neighbors dryer will suffice for a month. It'll be a good lesson for the kids who have no idea that laundry can be done without electricity. Plus I'm afraid if I bring another dryer into the house it'll stay till it dies. The washer that matched my now dead dryer, died two years ago and T said, "We'll get the matching dryer in a few months". Uh huh, that obviously didn't happen.

Okay, I already take it back that we've replaced everything. We haven't replaced the stove(cause we can find a gas one that fits). Guess what is giving me a hard time tonight?

 

Cindi! You poor girl! Sounds like it's all going at once. Our gas logs don't heat our house. They are more for looks and don't have a blower. I'm afraid they'd run us out of the house if they did put off a lot of heat! Our living room is in the center of the house and is an open floor plan. I love gas heat! I can be WARM! We had a name brand heat pump in Cleveland, Ga., in a brand new house and I FROZE. I'd pull up a chair to a sunny window and wrap up in a blanket!

Well I slept only 4 1/2 hours last night and then couldn't go back to bed this morning because the one family had run out of diapers and Daddy (Youth Minister) had to make a store run after he took the older daughter to school. That meant I had to stay up and wait for him but then he put them on the porch thinking I'd be sleeping. They're SO nice! We've known them for years before they left our church when Kevin took the job as Youth Minister elsewhere.

I think I'll watch NCIS and go to bed early tonight. I'm still a little apprehensive about the surgery on Thursday. I freak out about going to the doctor for a sore throat! Hey! You pay those dudes to find something WRONG with you! I avoid doctors!!!

Wonder what news Tony is getting tonight. Praying for he and Vivian! Debby, remembering you as you wait to hear on the rotator cuff injury. Nancy, and you too! Seems like a lot of our family has serious concerns.

Weeellll, we kinda knew when we moved in the house that we'd have it to do. The house was 15 years old and everything was original and had been through 3 or 4 different owners and their kids and animals. Even the stuff we brought with us like the washer/dryer had some years on it. We got an excellant deal on it so it has been worth it. When we are done, I'll have everything the way I want it. I can't even complain about the dryer. It has been through 15 years and three kids without even a service call. And I believe we got the set for less than $400 when we bought them.

I just wish some of these things would wait for OUR schedule before breaking down. We don't do credit anymore, so the cash has to be there before we buy. I only needed one more month outta that dryer!

Oh well, life goes on....

I'm going to crawl off to bed with a book here pretty soon myself. Hopefully tomorrow I'll accomplish a bit more than I did today. My house needs some attention.

What brand heat pump did you have Diane? It is time for me to start researching, maybe I should start a heat pump satisfaction thread.

 

I seem to think it was a Trane and we froze in GEORGIA! The house had really good windows and lots of them. We also had a LARGE stone fireplace which helped but I'll never have another heat pump!

Sue, I don't know how to explain it. It's electric heat but is supposed to save energy. Ours blew strong and no matter how high I put the heat setting, the air was never hot. My gas heat blows HOT air! My house gets warm really quickly too. We keep our windows cracked at night now even tho it gets into the 50's. I'll turn on the heat for 5 mins. in the morning and warm the house to 70!

 

Okay. Just heard from one family and their kids will come at 8:30 so just Ty at 5:45 and then a little longer sleep for me. I NEED it! LOLOL

Sue, someday Ed will explain how the heat pump works. He is still trying to explain it to me.

I do know that if the temperature in the house is two degrees lower than set then the gas heater kicks in with the really hot air. Then the electric heat pump keeps it at that temperature.

This house is a lot larger than our old one. Our old one had central gas heat. Our electric and gas bills combined are less than what our gas bill was in the old house and we are a lot warmer.

I must go to bed as I have a dentist appointment in the morning. Then I have an eye doctor appointment on Thursday. I don't know why I scheduled both in the same week.

Good morning all!

Praise the Lord...had great news from the doctor on my hemoglobin counts. They are up...not yet back to normal, but they are up from 11.8 to 12.8...a whole point in two months! I still have a ways to go to hit that 16.5-17, but the Lord is good!

It's a cool 36 here, and there was frost on Viv's windshield this morning. It's supposed to get to 68. I hope it does!

Tony I am thrilled with that report! Wonderful news!

I've got a lot to do today since I won't be able to bend over for a couple of days or lift anything. I finally got the scrambled eggs off the chairs, floor, kids and dishes and have the final load of laundry going for today. MacKenzie is trying to break a world's record for tattling today. The children are playing out back and she comes to the door every few seconds to tell me something Ty said or did.

I'd rather be warm and I love the gas heat! Our electric for the heat pump was more than our gas bill here for everything and that (larger) house was one floor. We have a split level here and are always warm even with turning the heater to 60° at night and 68° in the day. Georgia has a wet cold! I tolerated Connecticut's cold weather much better!

Nothin' warmer than an oil heat furnace on a cold winter night.
I use natural gas for hot water and cooking, but oil heats the radiators!

 

Ah! We had oil heat in Connecticut! We also used a wood stove for a number of years when oil was SO high. That kept our house too hot!

Did I miss the results on the MRI, Debby?

 

We live in a "total electric" home, but we have our campstove to use if the power goes out and we can't cook. We have propane lanterns, too. Thought about putting in a propane tank, but them thar things be expensive to buy, and even more expensive to fill!

 

Diane, I don't know the "results" of the MRI yet myself. My next appointment with the ortho isn't until 5/12, so unless he calls me, I won't know until then. I'm just glad I got the thing over with.

We also use our propane grill to cook, Tony. We cook out all year round here. I love chicken and steak on the grill. Our stove is gas but with an electric starter. You can light it with a match tho, on the top burners. Our neighbors ate out when we were without electric for 5 days and didn't shower! They called and asked what WE were doing and I asked 'Why aren't you showering???' They were 'trying to save the hot water'. LOLOL Gas hot water! LOLOL

Allie, how goes it with that roommate?

 

I told her I would be moving in June or July. She seemed to be okay with that. That will give her time to start helping me clean the mess.
I laugh at all the food everytime I open the fridge. Her craving must be juice cause we have it in every flavor and form from natural pineapple to Kool-aid. I'm beginning to wonder if the baby is really a fruit bat.
