It just up and rained in central Oklahoma
yielding 1-1/4 inches. We needed it, we
    still need more rain.

I don't have colored ink in my printer, Sue.... Nick wanted to print it out. Thanks tho.

No rain here... YET... but it's only 74° and quite humid:
    Forecast for Villa Rica, Ga.

Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some thunderstorms may produce frequent lightning... Gusty winds and heavy rainfall. Highs in the upper 80s. Light and variable winds becoming southwest around 10 mph in the afternoon.
    Tonight
Partly cloudy with chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening...then mostly cloudy with slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Lows in the upper 60s. Southwest winds around 10 mph in the evening becoming light and variable. Chance of rain 30 percent.

I'm glad Nick has shot off fireworks the last 2 nights. This is the FIRST year they've been legal in Georgia and we're law abiding citizens. I know, Boring...

We fired off all our fireworks last nite----my boy is 10 and loves to "pop firecrackers"---though when we buy them---we put a "spendin' cap" of $10.00 on the purchase----you can't buy much for that amount---but if I shop with him---he can get a lot of "bang for his bucks!!!"

That's good news! Sounds like a "normal" skeeter bite! [IMG]

We've had so much rain around here lately that we have lots of skeeters that are "WHOPPERS"!!!!

That reminds me, I need to take our "Bug Off" bracelets when we go to see the public fireworks display tonight.
We got the smallest package of fireworks at Wal-Mart last night. It has 8 items (that will probably do the same thing, just in different colors) and will set them off probably when we get home.

Sorry to make July 4th a sad day. We just got a phoe call about Vivian's mother. She passed away about 30 minutes ago. We just got back from a trip down there yesterday afternoon. Am not sure when the funeral will be but know the details will be in the Augusta, GA paper by Wednesday.

    Ya'll have a great holiday.

Tony, although that is sad, I'm SO glad she didn't suffer for 90 days! I'm not sure the route you take but if you're anywhere near us, I'd love to meet you somewhere for a Coke and a hug (gentle of course). I don't have several days this week and only one child one day. I'll send you my phone number again.

Gayla, Well the bite did get to penny size with a hard lump but only for a day and it still itches some but what a miracle compared to other times!

Blackbird, only 'sparkler' types are legal in Ga. but they do have some noise. Of course, the neighbors must have driven the 24 miles to Ala. to get the others. We've heard some loud booms.

We still have a chance of rain tonight. Looks like Cindi got some or is still getting some. Unless I'm reading the radar wrong, looks like Gayla is in line for showers too. Gib looks like he's getting quite a bit.

Jon slept last night so stayed up during the day and we cooked out again earlier. I was very good. Ate mostly squash and only half a hamburger with the pattie cut in half also! No snacks for me.

We've got a 12 pound sirloin roast that's been sitting on the grill for about 3 hours now. Stuffed it full of garlic cloves, turn the heat way down and lettin' her cook s-l-o-w-l-y!

Half of a half a burger Diane? My stomach would send my mouth a telegram complaining and the taste buds would go on strike.

No fireworks in NY. Too many thumbless people complained about the dangers, I guess.

Padre, my weight has been creeping up with my age and I eat very tiny amounts and still can't get down to what feels comfortable. I weighed when I took Nick for his burn and he and I both were 6 pounds heavier than at his allergist 2 weeks ago. Don't know if the scales were off or if we've gained! Nick's a bean pole! Anyhow... I feel better at 119 - 124 and I'm 136-139! That's a lot for such a short person.

From CNN's report on the frankfurter eating contest held in NYC today.

American Sonya Thomas, 37, placed second. Her consumption of 37 frankfurters set an American record.

"I trained for speed," said the diminutive dog devourer, who weighs 100 pounds, stands 5 feet 5 inches and manages a Burger King restaurant in Virginia.

Burgers and hot dogs! Eating 'em is the secret! [IMG]

I weighed 89 lbs when I got married and got up to 93 lbs after the birth of our 3rd child. Something happened when I turned 35! I jumped to 124 lbs within months and have had to watch my weight ever since. My diet sin is that I eat from supper time until bedtime and drink lots of Pepsi, full strength please! No exercise either. Doctor says the stubborn weight gain (she says I'm not overweight for my age) is menopause and that once other hormones kick in, I'll be able to lose more easily.

I hope everyone had a good Independence Day!

Fireworks were postponed until tomorrow night. They were called because of rain.

I hope it rains all night. We really need it. So far it has just, more or less, sprinkled.

    Pleasant dreams all!

We decided to skip the public display, the kids wouldn't watch anyhow and it's hard to enjoy with a 35 pound weight clamped around your body, choking a little tighter with every BOOM!!

We went to Wallyworld and got a bigger package of fireworks, which they watched from inside the house. Me and daddy had fun, though. Was too hot to do them all, so we have some left.

Tony, that is sad news about your Mother-in-Law. Will pray for your family . . .

    Anyone still up?

We're just winding down here. It's been a great day but tiring!

We slept in till 10, cleaned till 3, cooked till 5, ate till we were stuffed, made the kids clean up supper dishes, watched the Twilight Zone marathon till dark and then shot off to many fireworks to count.

We're lucky, we can see the city display from our front yard. So we did our fireworks, then theirs and then our again. One of our neighbors brought a bunch and we combined them so we had enough for the whole neighborhood between us two!

I ended up with a still mostly clean house and only one kid. Our company took Precious and Bitsy is staying at her best friend's for the night. They've been apart for an entire week! Best friend has been off at camp for a week. My kids are deprived because I just can't imagine being without them for a whole week!(not to mention that I wouldn't spend $1200 on a week at camp for ONE, even if I had that kind of money)

Son is the only kid here and has already marked out his spot on my bed! Says he doesn't want to stay upstairs all by himself.

Diane, I did not find that pattern! (just don't ask how long I looked for it) Tomorrow is another day though and one that shouldn't be divided up with to many other things. All I know that I HAVE to do is try to alter Son's karate uniform. I know they are supposed to look like pajamas, but shouldn't he at least be able to see his feet?! [IMG] [IMG] The top is just about right with just a bit of growing room, but the pants....oh my! I think he and Bitsy could both fit into them!

Tony, sorry about your MIL. I agree with Diane though, lingering with cancer is not a nice thing. Better that she go on home now. I'll be praying. Good luck with the family.

    Good morning all:

It is very foggy here this morning. We got some rain during the night, but it is supposed to be sunny and hot today. I don't know if we got enough rain to do the crops any good or not.

Today is house cleaning and laundry day. Those are the things that usually get done on Monday, but we didn't do too much of anything yesterday. There was a "Monk" marathon on all day!

I sure miss Brent helping me. There's just not a lot he can do with one hand (and that being the hand he is not accustomed to using).

Shawna is supposed to come over and help me do the floors, etc. today. The Life Style Editor from our local paper will be here tomorrow to do an interview and possibly take a couple of pictures. There are things that need done before she gets here!!!

Between my toe, hubby's broken rib, and Brent's broken arm and poison ivy, we haven't done any 'deep' cleaning for a few weeks...

Bro. Tony, our love and prayers are with you and the grieving family! As you know, we grieve, but not as the world, for we have hope in the blessed resurrection. In the wonderful promises of Jesus we greet you and your loved ones, for He said: "Because I live, ye shall live also!" (John 14:19c). [IMG]

I don't contribute much here, but will take the time to express my sympathy to Tony and wife on the passing of their mother-in-law, mother.

The Lord does say that His grace is sufficient and I trust you will abide in that as your mourn her loss.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Hello Bro. Jim! Good to see you around. [IMG] Hope your weekend was a blessed one. Since you do not celebrate 4th of July, yesterday it must have been a regular "working" day for you. Trust that you'll have a good day in the Lord, and please send down to us a little breeze from the North! [IMG]

My dear Brother Barnabas, When this high humidity and 80 to 90 temperature leaves us, I shall be glad to send the winds your way.

We may not have had the 4th, but we did have the 1st..our Canada Day. I am just recovering from wife, two daughters and granddaughter's trip to England and Scotland. I may need a holiday to fully recover.

    Cheers to you, mate,

    Jim

WOW Bro. Jim! And I thought you are having your heels cooled up there North! [IMG]

That reminds me when we had the annual meeting of the Hungarian Baptist Convention there, years ago. We rented the dorm facilities at the Toronto College, without airconditioners, for our organizers said, it is always cooler up North. Well, we were surprised. My wife and I could not sleep from the heat and humidity and had to go out to a nearby hotel (where we stayed for the duration of the convention). So, you have my empathy! But you know what? This will also pass and then we'll complain about the cold.... [IMG]

Hope you are staying in an airconditioned room! [IMG]
