You know, Jim, Vivian and I have several friends at church who raise goats. We've definitely considered it and may do so very soon. We want to get the fencing for the yard first, and that is going to cost around $2,500. The benefits would be great...goat milk, goat cheese, and the lawn "mowed" by them thar critters! ;)

Don't forget the barn, feed, vet bills, breeding....

True, padre...but around here goats are VERY popular and sell easily and a good profit is made. The farm up the road has at least 200 of them critters, and they seem to do quite well with them. The lady at church who raises them does pretty well herself. I'd also have to remember the bobcats around here...they like to try and kill the goats.

Good morning all:

It is only 53º this morning. Is Autumn coming early this year?

It was 91º yesterday but supposed to be in the mid 80s for the next few days.

We have to pick up Brent's new glasses today and go by the grocery store. Other than that, it's the school crossing and home schooling, as usual.

Cruising,

Morning all:

A bit foggy out this morning. But, the temps are 10 degrees ABOVE what they said they would be for overnight lows.

Vivian was supposed to work OT today, but, they cancelled at the last minute yesterday. So, she has a four day weekend. Today we've got to go to the "convenience center" to dump off the trash, then to Wal-Mart for groceries and supplies and something for Sundays cookout at church, and then to the post office. Then it's back home to try and push mow this two acres, or at least the outline of it so that the asst pastor can come with his bush hog and mow the jungle down!

My mom called last night, and she isn't going to be able to make the trip to GA to pick up the rest of her furniture and belongings from my sisters house. She had a major car repair done yesterday and needs a second one done next month to keep her vehicle safe and ready to go. On top of that, with gasoline prices so high, she couldn't pay for the gas to fill the truck and bring the stuff back. She would have to fill up at least four times from GA to Illinois and that would run about $100 per pop, along with the cost per mile and the standing rental on the thing as a one way rental. So, they are considering doing all of this in November.

Gas at some stations here last night was over $4.00 per gallon. It's downright crazy. I saw some stations on the news last night (local) that are closed down completely because there is no gas. I'm taking the van today and filling up so we can syphon it out if we need it. Also the Lumina and the four gas cans. They're saying it could be three or four weeks before we get gas at some stations. I can't believe it! But, we know that God is still in control.

Ya'll be good, be kind, be careful, but most of all keep Jesus first.

People are panicking and buying more gas than they need because they are afraid they won't be able to get it when they do need it. That only makes the problem worse. Our prices here are around $3 a gallon at the moment.....

Good morning all!

We've a full day of errands to run today, so I won't be back around till this evening. Ya'll have a good one!

Good morning all:

TaterTot and her family are all right. I don't have any more details. Someone sent an email from her to another member. PTL!!!

I still can't get through to Blackbird, but I intend to keep trying until we get word on him.

The weather is pleasant here again today. I have some yard work to do, other than that, I'm going to relax and enjoy my week-end...

Me too, Thankful! Watching to see what the Longhorns will be up against! :D

I'm thoroughly enjoying the long holiday weekend...am working on some Christmas counted cross stitch! It's been so hot here, I really haven't been motivated to work on it, but the Labor Day weekend brings thoughts of fall and thoughts of fall bring thoughts of upcoming holiday seasons and...well, you get the idea!

College football would be a welcome sight. We have been watching soccer all day.

I'm going to the Harley Davidson store later. Wifey-poo asked why, knowing I can't buy anything. I responded, "I guess you won't be watch QVC anymore."

Thankful

Well, the Sooners didn't get off to a very good start. This is Stoops only second loss when the team played at home. But he had to actually start with a nearly new team this year.

I did learn that all my relatives that live in Louisiana are safe.

It was just announced that up to 6000 refugees will be housed at our Southern Baptist Camp here in Oklahoma.

That's great news Thankful (about your relatives I mean).

I have been watching old western movies on the Hallmark Channel all day and just relaxing. I could get used to this!

Brent has called several times since he left. Think he misses me?

He spent the night with his Aunt and four cousins. Today the Aunt, four cousins, his mother, and his two sisters went swimming at the beach. I think he's having a very good time!

Yes, Falls Creek. Baptists will supply the housing; Red Cross will feed them; and the Governor will provide security.

Finally something I can do to be of service in locating surviors of Katrina.

| SURF FOR SURVIVORS |

To be a surfer for LIFE LIST, simply email us at LOVING.LIFE@SBCGLOBAL.NET with your name and city and how often you can surf.

We have numerous calls from people desperately looking for survivors. Many do not have computers of their own and are handicapped in the online searches that have proven so vital in reuniting families. That's where we come in. As LIFE LIST volunteers, we are looking to provide information to people who are searching for loved ones and who may not have a computer or the ability to surf effectively.

We will forward you the missing person's name and last known location via email. In addition, we will send you LIFE LIST LINKS - comprehensive weblinks that will take you directly to various databases (Coast Guard, New Orleans Police, CNN, National I'm Okay List, etc) to faciliate a thorough, yet time-effective online search.

Think about the difference you'll make in someone's life if you are able to make a match or provide any piece of information to worried families.

Once your search is completed, we ask you to reach out to the caller and let them know that a search has been completed by LIFE LIST. If information has been found, you will pass it along. If information has not been found, please tell families that another search will be conducted tomorrow.

We ask that you send a message to LIFE LIST with the status of your search so that we can archive the search or reassign the following day. If for any reason you cannot complete your surfing for the day, simply let us know and your search will be reassigned to another volunteer. No pressure.

Email us at LOVING.LIFE@SBCGLOBAL.NET
(Don't forget the dot btw loving and life)
I can surely spare some of my Internet time each day to provide such a service (maybe I'll even locate Blackbird!).

Pleasant dreams all!

I work for a trasportaiton company, that does happen to have a hub in New Orleans. We have finally heard from the last person. My company has gotten them all settled in diffrent places in Texas and they are all happy to be there. Well as happy as they can be under the circumstances.

I'm aboutto head to bed soon and, just wanted to check in with all of you and let you know that things are going ok. Am worried about granny and black bird but, I have faith they are ok. I'm glad someone heard from Tator. I'm sure we are all anxiously waiting all to come back.

Good night and sleep tight!

Wendy: Granny and all the others in Katrina's path have posted with the exception of Blackbird.

(I called MEMA this morning and they are going to forward information to the authorities in the town where Blackbird lives and they will call me with any information on him that they can find)

Good morning all:

Another pleasant day here to praise the Lord!

I have been busy surfing the net for missing persons with the organization I joined. I didn't go to bed until after 2:00 a.m. There are SO many people looking for news of loved ones.

I am given one name a day to try and locate via 30 different web sites.

Sadly, I was not able to locate the name I was given yesterday. Those phone calls to the family members 'looking' are heart-wrenching...

This is a day that the Lord hath made. Let us REJOICE and BE GLAD IN IT!

Happy Lord's Day all!

Sue, I don't know where my mind was, I think it's in serious doubt at times

Everything here is going good. It is very heartwrentching to see what is going on down South. I hope that all the order is returned soon.

I'm going to take the girls out to the park I think. I don't know what else if anything else we will do. BUT, I don't want to sit around the house on my only day off
. So we are going to kick up our heels and think of something, if we could just GET them to clean up their bedroom we would be in serious business and able to get out of here.

I hope that all of you have a wonderful rest of the morning and awesome afternoon.

Sue, what a wonderful thing to volunteer to help search for people!

Our church held special prayer this morning as I am sure that most churches did.

Thanks, Thankful!

I was feeling so helpless because I couldn't help much financially. I feel better now that I'm 'helping'.

I am in front of the computer a lot and I decided I could put a lot of that time to use by 'searching'.

I send a 'status' report to LifeList, every 24 hours after I've called the 'searcher' with what I've found (or haven't found), and they send me a new name via voicemail. It really brings it close to home because the voicemail is from the 'searchers' and I can hear the anguish in their voices.

I figured I was visiting these web sites anyway looking for news of Blackbird so I might as well be looking for others as well.

So if you don't see me around as much as usual for awhile, you'll know why...

The widow's mite....and we know who gave the most, don't we?

I had a chap in one church who worked nights. He came straight from work on Sunday morning to hand out the bulletins. He apologized for doing so little. Most came from a comfortable bed to sit in a comfortable pew...he gave of himself, and I had to remind him.

Yes, Sue, you are giving of yourself, and Lord does not ask more. Blessings on you.

Cheers,

Jim
