I got zero sleep, with our new puppy exploring his behavioral limits while the adult humans sleep. He's great, a blue heeler/huskie mix. Too cute. He better like snow, and hiking, and camping, and bluegrass, 'cuz that's why we got him.

No new snow, but we 'spect to get some the next few days. That's good, we have a real short week, and a long weekend coming up. Guess what we're doing ? That's right. Skiing !!!!! Got a free lift ticket for Saturday for playing at the resturant on Friday. Hope they like gospel....

No wind and bright blue sky. You'd think it was 85F out. And when I get shoveling (and trying to keep my balance with my bad legs so I don't end up making snow angels) it FEELS like 85F. Work up a sweat.

Hey, my son lives at the base of Saddleback Mountain (Orange County, CA) and they had SNOW half-way down the mountain and so much hail that the parking lots and park area around his church looked like Green Bay!

Beats the mud slides they had last year about this time.

Well, the insurance company won't do anything until the tree actually falls and does damage and the city won't touch it, neither will the power company.

It has split some more since I posted this morning. It was heading for my kitchen, now it's heading for the neighbor's living room.

Now the CHEAP thing for me to do would be to let the wind blow it over and smash the neighbor's house and let his insurance pay for the damages.

However, that wouldn't be the CHRISTIAN thing to do...so we have a tree service coming in the morning to cut the whole tree down at our expense.

Pray it doesn't topple tonight!

It's well over a hundred feet high and would smash through the roof and probably smash through his living room floor when it hit.

Sue, this is another branch that looks like a whole tree, isn't it? Hope it holds 'til the morning!

We're hovering at 79, after an early high of 81. It's pretty cloudy, tho and the rain is supposed to get here tomorrow.

How frustrating Sue! I hope it holds till morning too. Is this from the same tree that the last one fell from?

Kids have made it through the day. Had to take Cassie some meds but Chris made it through on what I gave him this morning and advil at school.

Got to get back to work.

Sue, if I were up there close, I would come and take it down. I used to do that kind of thing in Pekin/Peoria off and on.

The storms are moving in quick, so I'm going to have to get off of here pretty quickly. The power has already gone out 3x today, and it's hotter than an oven in this house. I'm going to have to go and turn down the air before the power goes out. Opening the windows has proven to be a disaster, as it sent me into an asthma attack and then knocked over several items that were on the entertainment center! We're under a tornado watch right now. Please pray for Viv to make it home safe. The storms have already started up where she is, and she is going to have to take the back roads home this evening because she has to stop by the pharmacy for meds.

MK, am praying for ya'll.

Hey, did anyone here that Maureen Stapleton died??? Sad. I really liked some of her character acting.

Here is the tree and ONE of the splits (there are 2 splits now). This tree is well over 100 feet tall. I stood 60 feet away and turned the camera sideways and still couldn't even begin to get the top of the tree in the picture.

The wind is still blowing @ 35mph. The tree service people said if it was anything but a Hackleberry tree, it would have blown down a long time ago.

They will be here in the morning to cut the whole tree down.

What is a hackleberry tree? Does it have little purple/black berries toward the end of summer?

We got us one of those tornado warnings. Very almost got the kids and went into our safe place when they said it was passing just north of the airport. We are just about even with the airport, the OLD airport. They were talking about the new one which is a good 10 miles from us. We didn't even get a drop of rain.

There's another one coming up that I'm watching. It looks a bit bigger and is passing south of us and hopefully even south of my inlaws. They live about 15 miles south of us.

Gotta go tend to a customer, see ya later.

Sue, maybe there's some noble cause in all this. Maybe someone really needs the firewood? Of course, it would be nice to get little notes telling us the reason these things happen, besides the obvious high winds theory.

My weird day is turning into a weird two days. I feel so...WEIRD! STILL!
I am driving a really cool car. I'm in love with this thing! It's a 2006 Toyota Corolla. It's so cute! It also has a high roof, which I love, very big windows, and lots of buttons and lights. You can't drive a car that doesn't have buttons and lights that are so technical even the maker isn't sure what they're for, and not feel like you've got a really cool car! :D

Corrina, my middle daughter, has a birthday coming up. Yay for her! I've gotta get the child to an eyedoctor again. I took her a couple of months ago and her vision was just fine, but now it's so bad she has to sit all the way in front to do her work. She had told me it was bothering her, but I thought maybe she was just trying to get glasses because her friend has them, but now even her teacher is telling me it really seems to be a problem, and it's been a couple weeks now, so I'll take her in.

Yes, it does, and they grow very large.

Sue, maybe there's some noble cause in all this.
I did the right thing, but I can't say I didn't have a few minutes of thinking about letting the tree fall on the neighbor's house and letting HIS insurance pay for the damages instead of me paying $1,200.00 to have the tree cut down tomorrow.

Pleasant dreams all!

Helen has a tree eating dog. You should have called and seen if she'd have overnighted him.

Morning all:

It's 39 here right now and the winds are starting to pick up. We had 4 tornado's yesterday...two touched the ground 10-13 miles S of here, and two were overhead and went into the next county. We could look straight up and see the rotation and hear the winds! It's bad when you live out in a rural section full of farms. Got some light hail, but thank the Lord the tornado's never touched down in the fields behind us.

We're supposed to only get into the lower to middle 50's today. I've got the heater running. Yesterday it was the air conditioner.

Sue, hope you get that tree taken care of.

Ya'll be good, be kind, be careful.

Good morning all,

It has turned cooler here, but the wind has died down a little. It's still blowing around 20-25mph though.

The tree is still standing, PTL! The tree cutters should be here between 8:00-8:30 this morning. I'm going to let Brent 'skip' school today. There is no way he could concentrate. The tree is right outside the schoolroom window and THAT is much more interesting than school!

Still no greatgrandson! Tonight is a full moon, so maybe...

I need coffee,

I'm ready for another cup and I'm not quite as groggy. Thought I'd unpack these new cups to use . . .

Kind of whimsical for a dreary morning.

I have over 250 whimsical cups! I use them for a border all the way around the top of my kitchen wall!

Well, I guess I'd better get dressed before the men get here with the chain saws, cables, trucks, etc.

TTFN!

Good Morning Everyone!

I'm glad ya'll left some coffee for me!

Got pool troubles again this morning. At least I think I do. I may be I'm imagining things, but there is an awful lot of water standing in my back yard that last night's rain doesn't account for. Then again, the water level in the pool doesn't really look down all that much. I have my ideas what is going on, but I don't want it to be. So I'm raising the water level some, since the pump was pulling it faster than the skimmer could supply it. Then I'm going to mark the level and watch it today. If I'm losing water, then I'll know where I'm losing it. If I'm right, it gonna cost about $100 to fix. Can't complain, compared to how much it's costing Sue to take down that tree!

We had a much younger, smaller version of that tree out by our deck when we moved in. I hated those berries so bad, I had it cut down! I had wondered what kind of tree it was, cause I hadn't seen one around here before. Haven't seen another since, for that matter. Probably, I cut down something a previous owner spent money to plant!

Nice and cool this morning but the sun is warm.

Gonna spend today much like yesterday. Sewing, cleaning and carrying medication.

Sue, tell Brent to enjoy himself. It's pretty cool watching trees being taken down.

See ya!
