Corporate election is the only scheme that would have, for example, someone taking the oath of office as president of the U.S. without first being elected as president of the U. S.

    Of course that was done!

    Anyone remember Gerald Ford?

However, Even Gerald Ford was elected to political office, just can be that he was assigned as an elected one to the task.

There IS model for Corporate election found in Scriptures, but is not that which can. Be applied to individual members who gather in the assembly. They are not “corporately” elected for salvation, but peculiarly and particularly elected.

Indeed! The problem we have here, is not so much what the Greek in the CONTEXT actually means, but what it says "theologically", first and foremost! This of course is the wrong way to approach the Word of God. For those on here who really know any Greek grammar, it is plain that often times the word itself cannot be taken out of its context, to determine its exact meaning. Granted that "τεταγμένοι", is also used in the "passive voice", which would then be used to show that God so "arranged" their salvation. However, there is no question that "τεταγμένοι" is also used in the "middle voice", which it is here, because in its contextual use, the Jews first "rejected" the Gospel, and thereby "judged themselves" unworthy of eternal life; which caused Paul to take this same Message to the Gentiles, who gladly "accepted" the Gospel. This again shows their "action", which corresponds to the Jews decision. We would not even have any objection to the word "τεταγμένοι" as in the "middle voice", had it not been such a loaded verse, which some who are more interested in theological bias, misuse for their own purposes!

Yes, good example. What is the "president" "elected" to? He's elected to an office. Elected to service. He has a SERVICE to perform.
"Angels" are "elect". Even the Lord Jesus Christ is "elect". Does that mean God "chose" Jesus to salvation? No. Does it mean God chose Jesus to "be Jesus"? No. It means is, Jesus had a SERVICE or PURPOSE to perform. He spoke the Universe into existence, He is the "I AM" who spoke to Moses from the burning bush, walked in the fiery furnace with the three Hebrew children, He was born of a virgin, healed the sick, cleansed lepers, cast out devils, raised the dead, prayed, walked on water, made water to wine, went to the cross, died and rose from the grave and now He lives forever making intercession for us. He will even "gird Himself" and "SERVE US" at the "marriage supper" He will NEVER stop SERVING. That is what "election" is about. and the "foundation of the world" thing simply means that GOD Almighty "elected" the born again crowd (corporate, us, we, them, you, all plural) to SERVE in a prescribed way. It means if YOU and I ever do anything for Christ, it will because God designed it all from the beginning. WE cannot take any credit whatsover for it. .......... and "predestination" has to do with "adoption as children" being "conformed to the image of Christ". So, again, when (if) one gets there, conformed to the image of Christ as a perfect sinless saint it is ALL because God did it.

Perhaps you have the “election to” confused with the “serve of”.

One “elect to”may by appointment “serve,” but the election is separate from the appointment of service.

Again the use of the example of the U.S. election.

The election is the choosing of a specific person, but the service does not automatically come from the election. Rather, there is the validation by the electoral college, or congress (work of the Holy Spirit) and then the swearing in oath of office by the justice department (confession of faith) and then comes the service.

Too often some want the election as an appointment to service without the necessaries necessary for the completion of the election.

No sir. The president serves because he is "elect" for that purpose. Same with Christians, Angels, and Christ.

You must not be familiar with the process.

The general public does not “elect” the president.

The president “serves” because he took an oath of office.

No elected official serves until they take the oath according to the authority of that office

No believer serves before commitment by oath, either.

Your own definition post shows your thinking is needing adjustment, not mine

Attend to that adjustment so we may address the believers election properly, please.

No sir, a person doesn't "serve" until he becomes one of the "elect". And he doesn't become one of the elect until he believes on the Lord Jesus Christ.

I've tried to explain to you that "elect" means "chosen to service" or "chosen for a purpose" and the Cambridge Dictionary confirms it. I don't know what else I can do.

Did you not see a coma following “decide or choose” in your posted definition?

That coma means that what follows may be an explanation of the application of what has immediately been defined, or it may serve as a stand alone qualifier to what has immediately been defined. As in this case to “choose a person for a particular job.” HOW? “By voting.”

In other words, one can remove the clarification to receive the meaning, in this illustration, “decide or choose by voting”.

That you put that inserted in coma as above that of the formal definition is perhaps the cause of your struggle.

The purpose of the election is to select one rather then another. (The reason for popular vote) However election to an office is never automatic service in the office.

The election does not seal the deal, rather an oath of office must be taken, and then the service of the office begins.

Gerald Ford was elected and took the oath of office as a Senator, He then took the oath of office as Vice President, and eventually he took the oath of office as president. He was only elected as a Senator, but could because of that election serve as needed by taking oath authority.

As this applies to salvation, the Father has chosen (elected) according to His pleasure those He will draw.

He does not elect believers to service, but to salvation, and then appoints those elected and redeemed to service. This may seem a small matter to some, but the service is by appointment, not by election.

Yet another example of non-comprehension. Did anyone say those chosen for salvation were not chosen individually? Nope.
So yet another effort at obfuscation.

    Returning to topic:
    Corporate Election

First lets define “corporate” election as God making a choice to deal with a group of people according to His purpose. Thus, whoever is “in the sphere” of His choice is chosen, and therefore anyone who enters that sphere becomes chosen or elect. The concept does not include a specific way to enter that sphere, so it is consistent with the Arminian idea that when a person sincerely puts their trust in Christ, they enter that sphere and become “elect” but corporate election does not preclude denial of human choice as the means of entry. The means must be an additional stipulation.

Secondly, it is a false dichotomy to say if God does sometimes choose to deal with a group for some purpose, that means He does not ever choose individuals for some related purpose. Corporate election does not require the denial of individual election, and individual election does not require the denial of corporate election.

As we wade into the subject of corporate election, our first question might be, do we see in the Bible the notion of corporate election or individual election. The answer is both. As Dr. Daniel B. Wallace wrote, “Individual and corporate perspectives are intertwined in Paul.”

Next, to paraphrase Dr. Wallace, “whether individual or corporate election is in view, the election is initiated by God and effected by God. Those who are chosen become what they were chosen for.” Judas was chosen to fulfill the betrayer prophecy, and that is what he became.

Next can there be corporate election without first being individual election? The answer to this depends on how one understands the question. For example Abraham was chosen and then within his descendants the line leading to Christ was promised, the world being blessed through Abraham’s seed. So this would be an example of an individual election resulting in a corporate election. On the other hand God might choose to order the destruction of a people who are in the way of God’s people from fulfilling His purpose. So the answer is there can be corporate elections that are the consequence of individual elections, and there can be corporate elections not as a consequence of an election of some individual from the group.

Which brings us to the crux of the matter, are we chosen corporately to salvation or individually to salvation? Dr. Wallace again correctly pointed out that Romans 8:33 clearly addresses charges being brought against individuals, saying if they are elect, no charge can be brought. Why not? Because they were chosen by God to salvation, and no plan of God can be thwarted. If all has been forgiven by God, no lesser entity can bring any charge. If you have a Presidential pardon, no state governor can charge you with the pardoned crime. Secondly, and this point was definitely not made by Dr. Wallace, if a person was chosen to salvation, they would be elect, but if they had not been saved, then a charge could be brought against them. Thus this verse requires that election to salvation and salvation go hand in hand with no delay between the two.

And if as required by Romans 8:33, there is no delay, when are we chosen? Since many verses clearly teach before we were chosen, we were sinners; our individual election to salvation has to occur during our physical lifetime. In 1 Corinthians 1:26-30 we see God chose what the world saw as weak and foolish, requiring those chosen to be in and therefore known by the world. Second Thessalonians 2:13 says we are chosen through belief in the truth, requiring that we were alive and believing in Jesus when we were chosen. 1 Peter 2:9-10 says once we were not a people but now we are a people, requiring that we lived before becoming part of God’s chosen people, and also once we had not received mercy but now we have received mercy, again requiring that we lived without receiving mercy, and then we received mercy. Lastly we have God choosing the poor of this world, again requiring people being chosen while living, James 2:5.

In summary, when God chose Christ to be His Redeemer, that was an individual election that resulted in a corporate election, everyone subsequently redeemed was chosen in Him, as the target group of His redemption plan, thus He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world corporately, but we enter that sphere when God individually credits our faith as righteousness and places us spiritually in Christ, the sanctification by the Spirit, 2 Thessalonians 2:13 being our individual election to salvation.

Calvinism on the so-called "doctrines of grace" are way of the mark what the Holy Bible teaches! They have corrupted the Gospel of salvation, which is for each and every human being, by placing an ungodly "limit" on the mercy and grace of God, by insisting that only a certain few, the "elect", is all that God is interested in, and wants to save! This same God declares in Ezekiel, for example, contrary to Calvinism, that He does not "will the death of the wicked person", but asks that they repent and accept His offer of eternal life. This is exactly what God did by sending the Prophet Jonah, to a people who were the most wicked at that time, that they too could experience His boundless love, mercy and grace, through His Wonderful Salvation, which haply the people of Nineveh gladly accepted. The doctrines of "election, predestination, unconditional election", and certainly not from the heart of the God of the Holy Bible, but men who think they know better than God, impose upon the hearts and minds of many who have been greatly deluded by this false "system" known as "Calvinism"!

The Bible states that the blood of Jesus purchased back to God lost sinners, but not all sinners, only those whom Jesus died in the place of!

God can and does save regardless of whether the Gospel proclaimed is true or not! "Calvinism" does not represent what the Bible teaches about the salvation for sinners in Jesus Christ, which they have "limited", against what God says in His Word!
