Christians should be deterred from using the death penalty because God has commanded us to show mercy toward the worst of sinners, even murderers like Paul.

I never said I feared being persecuted during the tribulation. That’s not the reason I’m against the death penalty.

I see the evil one manipulating Christians to embrace very worldly ideas; like kidnapping, torture, mutilation, murder and the death penalty. And reject the command of God to show mercy.

It is shameful, some of the things that have been advocated on this thread. Far beyond simple support for the DP. To have Christians speak in such a manner must delight the evil one.

peace to you
What absolutely delights the evil one is having pedofiles running around destroying children’s lives. I challenge you to be an active agent for change and go visit some families who have been broken to see first hand and there you could hear their stories and participate in Christ’s renewing love. I have a guy in my neighborhood who was repeatedly raped as a child by the county sheriff that you might start with. He could then introduce you to many boys this black heart molested in boys detention centers that were also victimized. There is where you might want to concentrate your attentions.

You don’t, but you should. We are commanded by God to show mercy as God has shown mercy to us.

Peace to you
I show abundant mercy to the victims ... not so much to the perps who have acted on their master the devils instructions to destroy all innocent life. Perhaps you should start a prison ministry and go interface with those demons.

Scripture More Accurately

Genesis 9:5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man. 6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

Anyone who says that Christians who accept the divine ordinance of the death penalty "embrace very worldly ideas" is a denier of Scripture to whom no consecrated believers should give any heed.

Brethren, we must reject this false teaching that says that the death penalty is a "very worldly idea[]"!
