My question is: Has anybody here ever experienced an encounter, face to face, with somebody who is demon possessed?
Yes, on at least two occasions. And a Christian who is ministering in the power of the Spiriti has nothing to fear from demons or demonized people.

Matthew 17:14 (KJV) And when they were
come to the multitude, there came to him a [certain] man, kneeling down to him, and saying,

...

Matthew 17:15 (KJV) Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick,
and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
Matthew 17:16 (KJV) And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
Matthew 17:17 (KJV) Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
Matthew 17:18 (KJV) And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
Matthew 17:19 (KJV) Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
Matthew 17:20 (KJV) And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Matthew 17:21 (KJV) Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

Why argue with the Bible? The Word says 'this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting'. This kind... what kind is that? When one is acting crazy or out of one's mind'.

Thank you for your outstanding misunderstanding of the scripture.
There is a whole Forum where we discuss misunderstandings of
the scripture at:

http://www.baptistboard.com/forumdisplay.php?f=13

My question is: which KJV are you quoting from?
I have several KJVs which read a bid different.

BTW, your response in post #5 smashes your Brother
who posted in post #4. He pleaded for understanding
of a situation that DOMINATES HIS LIFE
and you slapped his face :( The scripture says:

Rom 14:19 (KJV1611 Edition):
Let vs therefore follow after the things
which make for peace,
and things wherewith one may edifie an other.

Obviously the scripture is not to be used like
sword to cut people's hearts out. If your understanding
of this scripture supports doing harm to your
Christian Brother, recommend:

changing your understanding of the scripture
(as a whole, not just this particular set of verses).

// Why argue with the Bible?//

I'm not arguing with the Bible, I am arguing with
misuse of the Bible.

You did not write it, nor should you try and interpret it for people. Did I read you are in education? oh my goodness.......please don't let it be hermeneutics.

Nah.. not shattered but sleepy last night.
But thanks anyway for having my back.

I was just making sure that a documented physical handicap was not being espoused as demonic possession by some here.

I knew that when amity stated what she did, I could go rest well...
Amity and I disagree over a few things, but here she is right...

Earlier I asked regarding Matthew 17:14-21:
//My question is: which KJV are you quoting from?

If you don't know, I know how to check it
to see what it might be (at least the family, if not
the specific Edition).

I am required* by the Bible to check out every scripture
I read on the BB (Baptist Board), to see if it has been
quoted properly. I also have been tasked by God
to raise a couple of Grandchildren - this takes a lot
of my time. I really don't have time to search through
all my Bibles and try to find which of the KJVs.
I know I'm called to help my fellow ministers to
minister better. I pray, because of Jesus, that you might
be also so called and might help me out. Thank you.

* note: Here is the Bible requirment on me:
Act 17:10-11 (KJV1611 Edition):
And the brethren immediatly sent away Paul
and Silas by night vnto Berea: who comming thither,
went into the Synagogue of the Iewes.
11 These were more noble then those in Thessalonica,
in that they receiued the word with all readinesse of minde,
and searched the Scriptures dayly, whether those things were so.

Yeah I know.. sometimes you just have to laugh...

Momma gave him a box of chocolates but his daddy ate the-em.

He is improving everyday... some things he is slow, some he is fast.
The part of the brain they removed dealt with his language skills...
When it comes to money... he knows his stuff.

His teacher comes out once or twice a week...and we teach him the other times.

When he gets stressed his seizures start in again.

God bless you Tiny, and your son. God gave him to you for a specific purpose. Now you are going to have to try to figure out what your son has to teach you.

The only things more dangerous then Mental and Physical Illnesses is the apathy and ignorance that surround them. Hardening of the heart often softens the head.

God bless you and your family Tim. :praying:

Are there any English teachers that could explain the
concept of the retorical device* called the 'metaphor'?

*note: a 'retorical device' is used to help communicate.

Christians CANNOT be demon possessed!

They can be OBSESSED, but not POSSESSED.

And there are a lot of Christians who have mental illnesses or chemical imbalances.

BTW, it is NOT a sin to take medicine for mental illnesses...

You know that we pray for him, you, and the rest of the
family every day. It is a command of God:

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (Geneva Bible of 1587):
Pray continually.

Ephesians 6:18 (Geneva Bible of 1587):
And pray alwayes with all maner prayer
and supplication in the Spirit: and watch
thereunto with all perseuerance
and supplication for al Saints
,

James 5:16 (Geneva Bible of 1587):
Acknowledge your faultes one to another,
and pray one for another,
that ye may be healed:
for the prayer of a righteous man auaileth much,
if it be feruent.

Recall that God's important messages in the Bible
are repeated time and time again (this only is three
of dozens of examples of how we are told to pray
time and time again.
Things that are only said a time or two aren't all that
important.

I am convinced from 55 years of practical Christian
experience that if you pray for a person everyday for
30 days or more - you will find it totally impossible
to say anything bad about that person. I've been praying
for Brother TinyTim since he joined the BB 14 months after
I did.

BTW, I pray also for brother HIS BLOOD SPOKE BY NAME
cause he has a real good trailer:
//
The peacemaking meeting
scheduled for today has been
canceled due to a conflict.
//

Anybody who can cause a chuckle everytime he posts has
just got to be 'one of the good guys'. Somebody want to
shout 'AMEN'?

Hmmm? I wonder if any of you consider demonic posession can occur in objects as well as people?

I believe we fail to understand all there is to know about the spirit world. For that I am truly glad I know Jesus!

But we should also understand that the Lord knows this and helps man to study to find cures for demonic posessions in animate and inanimate objects that effect the body, or infect the body, mind, and soul.

If this weren't true then I believe when the Lord made the iron axe head swim, it just wouldn't have the precedence the Lord has upon the account.

What according to the very laws of nature, satan would make sure to happen, the Lord intervenes and rebukes the devil!

Same thing ahppens in salvation when the ol' accuser accuses the children of God before His Throne. Though actually guilty as charged, by satan abusing the Law, the operation of the Blood of Christ cries,

" FORGIVEN !!!!"

There seems to be some discrepancy here, Ed. Here is my 1769 in which the Greek number 1140 is used instead of 846:

Matthew 17:18 (KJVSL) And <kai> Jesus <Iesous> rebuked <epitimao> the devil <daimonion>; and <kai> he <autos> departed <exerchomai> out of <apo> him <autos>: and <kai> the child <pais> was cured <therapeuo> from <apo> that very <ekeinos> hour <hora>.

Strong's Greek Dictionary
4583. seleniazomai
Search for G4583 in KJVSL selhniazomai seleniazomai sel-ay-nee-ad'-zom-ahee middle voice or passive
from a presumed derivative of 4582; to be moon-struck,
i.e. crazy:--be a lunatic.
See Greek 4582

Velly interesting. Are we then going to say that
'crazy' means the same as 'lunatic' (moon-struck)?
There has been no physical striking of the person
by the moon (except perchance in the case of
about six now ancient astronauts).
