The (Sad) State of Christianity - Reformed Truths

"We have lost our way. We are more worried about appeasing the lost rather than telling the truth to the lost. We cater our church services to the lost which leaves us with shallow theology in the service leading to theological illiteracy in the pew."

appeasing the lost - accepting their sinful lifestyle into our midst and hoping we will influence them to change
telling the truth to the lost - they are destined for hell
shallow theology - for itching ears
theological illiteracy - leading to false believes

It has been decades since I have heard a sermon preached with the intent of the Holy Spirit convicting non-repentant sinners.

Recently, most sermons take the middle of the road approach, not wanting to "step on toes". That way, it is less likely some might leave the assembly, taking their wallets with them.

2Th 3:6 KJV Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

Since we are to withdraw from a brother who is a backslider, we should avoid contaminating our assembly by inviting the lost into our midst.

Just what defines a Baptist Church? I was told you have to be born again to begin with and have a testimony to prove it. Don’t Baptist Churches today still operate in that manor or do they just let anybody in?

The actual truth?

The average Baptist Church of today gains members through the children's programs. There are very few adult converts. Most new baptisms of adults are adults coming from Churches that don't baptize after conversion.

Baptized or not, they must be born again prior to being inducted into the church. If a church brings in just anyone then they are violating Baptist principals and at best you get carnal Christians.

In my opinion there are two main types of Churches on TV and the Radio today.

First type are those that preach by starting with the Scripture and clarifying their message by adding thoughts from their own lives and lastly from "common since."

The other type are those that preach the wisdom of men and then add a Scripture to support what they are saying. The best way to describe this style is preaching The power of positive thinking (plus Christ to make it appear legitimate.)

What is missing in BOTH styles is warnings about SIN! Where are the John the Baptists today? Very few modern preachers would have to worry about be beheaded today for calling out a sinner for their sins.

Ever look into old school Baptist churches... if you could find one.

Generally, spiritual milk was on the menu for the Sunday morning service and spiritual meat in the Sunday evening service.

Additional in-depth study on Wednesday evenings.

Usually, no Sunday or Wednesday evening services today. End result, only spiritual milk is consumed resulting in spiritually stunted believers.

What church are you referring to?

Unfortunately, most Baptist churches in this area. The local independent (KJVO) Baptist church still holds Sunday and Wednesday evening services.
Yes the world has gone cold to the love of the Lord however there are remnants only remnants. Glad to have met you... even under these circumstances... praise God.

The world has always been in rebellion ever since Cain was born. It's foolishness to think the world is worse today than it has ever been. Goodness, there was a time the earth was so corrupt that God washed it away in a great flood.
Are we moving toward the great fire? Yes, without a doubt. What holds back God's fury? The last child to be adopted has not yet been adopted.
Instead of looking at how evil the world is, let us look to share the gospel with every living human so that they might possibly respond to the call of reconciliation and believe. We cannot stop until Christ returns and judges the unreconciled reprobates. Let us do our job as God's children.
Let us get our priorities straight. We have a job to do. Let us do it, no matter the opposition.
