I think it was just a careless remark. Since it was not addressing a question from the press I hope it was not sarcasm but just an attempt to dialogue. I would have said much more stupid stuff in his place.
I do not hold it against Trump. Except for offering two not thought out questions (on the spot in front of the world) he did very well.
That said, those who would spin Trump to be their god are no less problematic than those who spin Trump to be their devil.

My comment is directed at you. You attack anyone (even strong Trump supporters) who dare to say President Trump misspoke.
You are what is called "sheeple". You cannot take constructive criticism of Trump even from Trump supporters like me because you have idolized the man and will most likely follow him regardless of where he leads. Sheeple.

Trump brought our economy to its best level in my lifetime and this tells me he can rebuild after this cricis.

I have not watched any news since Trumps briefing.
I support Trump.
But he did honestly ask (it was nor sarcasm) if we could not explore introducing sanitizers into the blood and beaming light into the body to combat COVID-19.
Only a fool would pretend this was sarcasm (or someone who did not see the briefing).
It seems the Democrats are merely capitalizing on a dumb comment. But this is no better than the Democrat implants like @Calminian who pretend the question was sarcasm (they know it is worse to be sarcasm).
He seems to have simply asked a dumb question at the moment. This is not an issue. Politics disagree, but who cares? Only the sheeple.
