Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding/marriage. Marriage is for life. If a spouse deserts a believer, the believer is no longer subject to them but now can think and move independently of them.

Divorce before conversion able to marry

You are likening divorce to the unpardonable sin, and that's a YUGE gaffe. First off, the OP was talking about a lost person, and Paul said because the mind set on the flesh(in context this is the lost folk) is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, 8 and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.[Romans 8:7]
The lost are not subject to God's Law, and can not even begin to keep them. The bible does not take effect in one's life until AFTER they are saved. You are expecting the lost to live up to the righteous demands in the bible, when they can't. The only reason we can is because we have been imputed ALL of the Christ's righteousness, and the Father sees us through His Son.
All the lost live under is the Law, and they are condemned as Law breakers. However. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us--for it is written, “CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE”-- [Galatians 3:13]
So, I will go with Paul and not some self-righteous Pharisee setting upon a Sanhedrin.

Any sin is unforgivable without repentance. Divorce initiated by a Christian = unforgiveness. Divorce and remarriage = adultery to be repented of.
But the OP was speaking about an UNCONVERTED person, not a saved person.

If two non-Christians married then divorced and lets say one of them remarried. Then whilst stilled married are converted, what is the state of the remarried Christian? Des they have two wives/husbands, or is he/she committing adultery by staying with their second marriage?

The original marriage is for life regardless of religion. Divorce means nothing but separation. Any remarriage = adultery.

Adultery happens when you divorce or become divorced from your first spouse and remarry.

What is "adultery"?
What is "marriage"?
Are two unsaved people sleeping together "married"?
Are two unsaved people living together "married"?
Are two unsaved people living together with a child "married"?
If California "common law" recognizes that their living together implies a "marriage contract" under state law, are they "married"?
If two unbelievers say vows to each other before 'Gaia' the Earth Mother, are they "married"?
If two unsaved people are wed in a Las Vegas Chapel by 'Elvis' and the paper signed by a public notary, are they "married"?
Are all these marriages really the same as two people united in the covenant of marriage before the One True God?
You seem to claim that they are and I find no scriptural support for that, so help me see it.

A marriage or wedding takes place in the ceremony. It lasts for life. The woman who had five husbands was involved with a man who was not her husband according to Jesus John 4:18.

Samaritans, like Jews, worshiped the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. So the woman at the well was married before God.
Note that Jesus also said that she had FIVE HUSBANDS and Jesus did not order her to repent of her adultery and return to her First Husband. She may have been a 5 time widow, but was more likely handed divorce papers 5 times.

Jesus said the man she was now with was not her husband. Meaning marriage is in the ritual and not in the physical relationship, which in this case was fornication.

The marriage is in the ritual before GOD, not in rituals before men. Pagans married in a temple of Zeus are not married BY God. "What GOD has joined together, let no man pull asunder" ... not "what MAN has joined together" ...
What of her second through fifth husbands? Jesus said nothing of them.
Jesus did not even tell her to leave the man she was living with, did He?
Jesus just called all sin as sin and offered forgiveness.
The woman responded by rejoicing in her new found freedom, not weeping under her old legal bondage.
