For example, a person married and later divorced before they became a Christian. But once they become a Christian are they able to marry or would this still be considered as adultery?

Depends on why they were divorced. If for adultery by the other party, then yes, they are free to marry, but only in the Lord.

It is better to remain single than be married.

However, if one cannot contain themselves and lust burns, then they should marry.

Once consumption has taken place, there is no biblical divorce, only human rules with human understanding in which God does not approve, but allows because the human is too weak and self willed, too immature in their walk with God, or not understanding of the Scripture principles concerning the marriage as a living picture of Christ and the Bride.

If one is separated and divorced (considering that there was unbelief in a partner) the believer should either be reconciled again to the marriage or the determination to remain single should no reconciliation be found.

Those are the specifics that the Scriptures teach.

When Jesus abolished the Law on the cross, he abolished Moses' divorce provision along with it. There is no divorce provision in the New Covenant. So all marriage is permanent for life. People still divorce but remain married in God's sight.

So divorce is like any sin, that which is past and repentant is forgiven. forgiveness means treating one as if it never happened. I will not marry anyone who believes divorce is an option whether they have married before or not. When we hold someone's past and repentant sin against them then we mishandle scripture and God's intent.

I would say yes, as God would view them now as being redeemed, and as such, able to marry again, but only in the Lord/ Also assumes that the other party they divorced has remarried though.

I would say either be reconciled to your wife or remain single. Marriage is for life.
That refers to those done while Christian, not before!
And there are indeed acceptable divorce grounds for even among Christians that would allow for a remarriage!

“For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.” (1 Corinthians 7:14)

Paul considered the unbelieving husband married.

Yes, as long as the other party was saved, but the OP was what if BOTH were not saved when was divorced?

I was married, divorced before I married my 2nd wife who was born again and prayed many a nite in her prayer closet I would get saved.

I did get saved at an old fashioned tent meeting and later on got ordained, which these days won’t get you a cup of coffee at the 7-11.

I did not commit adultery with my first wife either- I prefer to say I was married, but she was not?
