Do All Dogs Go To Heaven?

The question was asked in another thread if dogs go to heaven. What do you all think, and why? (That "why" means "do you have some bible to support that opinion?") :D

I have no idea. I have been asked that by many people over the years. I tell them to "worry more about people and less about pets."

I have had some pretty good pets over the years. All of them rescues.

But I also think the bible tells us their fate. Ecclesiastes 3:21 “The spirit of man that ascends, it belongs to on high; but the spirit of the beast that descends, it belongs to below, even to the earth.”

That seems to say that the spirit of man is eternal but the spirit of the beast is temporal. The spirit of man goes upward to judgment/reward and the spirit of the beast returns to the soil from which its remote ancestor was created.

I would like to think I will see Rogue, Max, Teddy, Sammy, Gus, Fremont, Bailey, King, Twinkie, Tammy, Snoopie, Snowball, and many, many others, but the above seems to be saying differently.

I am open to be convinced, though. :)

I agree. I have had a dog or two that I am firmly convinced are presently Satan's personal pets.:Laugh

The question is really twofold:
Are there dogs in heaven?
...and is there a resurrection of righteous dogs?
There are horses (Revelation 6) BUT...

Our promise for the future isn't heaven but a new earth,
...and I'd think it would be populated with animals along the lines that the first creation was populated - you know dogs, but not the grossly mutated kind ... like poodles ;).

For the second question, will I see Rover?: I'd say No.
There will be no resurrection of pets.

Deacon - It is a good thing heaven will have horses!! But I knew that already because horses bring joy! ;)

But yeah - I don't believe that our beloved pets are "waiting at the rainbow bridge" or in heaven or anything. I DO think there will be animals in the new heavens and new earth but I don't think they will be specifically the animals I have had in the past - although I'd LOVE to see my Sandy again someday.

There is no need to wonder since heaven will not be our home for eternity. There will be a new heaven and a new earth. Scripture Aldo says all of creation awaits redemption. We will be here in eternity with animals such as dogs, cats, horses etc. will there be passed pets? Not likely for reasons Cassidy already showed.

I agree with what TC quoted also but I have met others who will say according to scripture in reference to various animals... The lion will lay down with the lamb, Christ appears on a horse and various others... How many on here know of people who have buried their beloved pet, maybe some of you have in a pet cemetery?... Not to say it is wrong, as some have thought of their beloved pet as a member of the family, and have made finally arrangement when they go, but to each his own... I know also of older folks who never had any children and their pets are their children... So when the pet goes, which is usually a beloved dog, they would avail themselves of this service... I checked online and this industry is big business and growing... But I also know scripturally that dogs don't go to heaven... Or cats, ect, ect, ect... Brother Glen:)

Our family has an evil fish that has eaten all the others. I don't know about heaven, but that one deserves to be fried. [emoji91] [emoji225] [emoji91]

the grossly mutated kind ... like poodles ;).

Tongue in cheek, obviously. Said mutation comes solely from the groomer's shears. Poodles were originally bred as sporting dogs, very good in the water. The pouf-pouf haircuts came way later.
(Other than that, your post makes a lot of sense.)

Actually the "pouf-pouf" haircuts were used for poodles when they were used for hunting, especially as water retrievers.

They had too much natural hair, which would get waterlogged and drag them under when they went into water to retrieve the birds brought down by the hunters.

But cutting all the fur off made it too cold for the dogs and they would develop arthritis at an early age. So the hunters began leaving the fur around the front shoulders to keep them warm to ward off the arthritis.

The facial hair was cut very short to it did not cover they eyes or get in the way of their mouth, used to retrieve ducks and other game. :)
