I do believe Paul also addressed this. When he said(me translation here) does this mean we can/ should sin even more? What did he say? No, we don't sin just because. But as christians we know that if we do sin, we do not have to worry about being thrown out of God's family.Katie says, “You would have to out-sin God's grace in order to loose salvation. You can't do it. Where sin is grace is even bigger.” I have heard this and said it myself a couple of times, but shouldn’t we tread this route very lightly? For many, this could provide a very convenient license to sin. Should we say to new believers, “Oh you sin that sin, it’s okay because you are saved and God’s grace will always pardon your sin… don’t sweat it, you’ll go to heaven.”
Exactly right. Most non-Calvinists hold to OSAS, despite its contradiction to their own theology, for unless God predestines, calls, justifies and glorifes (Romans 8:30) salvation cannot be secure.Originally posted by rsr:
Ah, Michael, I was waiting for you to show up.
Even non-Calvinists, (or non-TULIP) can believe in security. Many Baptists hold to security even though they do not understand predestination the way their TULIP-believing brothers do.
If you'll g back and read all the posts from everyone, you'll find biblical evidence.Katie:
There has been No scriptural evidence to promote once saved always saved. You assert one cannot lose their salvation. Prove it with the scriptures.
I John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." I believe your position is that your salvation is secure, even though you may sin-- correct? You would agree that the greater the sin, the greater the grace-- hence the greater the salvation. But as christians we know that if we do sin, we do not have to worry about being thrown out of God's family.
1John1:9 is written to christians for when they do sin. He assumes we as christians are going to sin. So what sin would be bad enough to loose salvation?
