Why should God continue to bless our nation? </font>[/QUOTE]Because He can and we ask. Thats why.

But God has been kicked out of the public square, haven't you heard? Even the US Air Force has a new "no religion" rule.
God cannot be "kicked out" of any place! Remember ,"whereever two or three are gathered..."

As to Iraq, we need to get out ASAP. The US has not have a good track record in instilling "democracies" aroubnd the world. Does the name Castro ring a bell?

Also, the "War on Terror" cannot be won through military power. How do you defeat an idea?

what we need to do is get some of these rich countries who do not even need to maintain an army because they have the use of ours is to pay for that service.

Pull out only after the job is done correctly. This is not vietnam. Some of the whiners on this board are an encouragement to insurgants and terrorists. They seem to think this war is optional. They listen to ABC,CBS,NBC,& CNN so they can form thier opinions. If they can't have a 100 hour war covered and completed by CNN then it just is'nt worth having. We certainly should have the news media tell us how to run the war and choose the tactics, they've all been to war college, they all have extrensive military experience, they are all planning and strategy experts.
The problem is too many Americans want to cut and run when things get a little tough.

Bear in mind that we went into Iraq because of WMD's, and now we are there to establish a democracy. Somewhere along the way, the objective changed.....

We went into Japan and Germany cause they
attacked us first. That was 60 years ago.
Our troups are still there. Our objective
changed after we defeated them.

In 2063 we will still need to have our forces
stationed in Iraq and Afganistan. It is
called WINNING.

These two scenarios are apples and oranges, as you have already noted - the Japanese attacked us first.

In 2063 we will still need to have our forces stationed in Iraq and Afganistan. It is
called WINNING.
That is called winning?
Do the math - how much do we spend each day in Iraq?

Costs

186 million dollars a day...that is $186,000,000
nearly 6 billion dollars a month that is $6,000,000,000.

We have a defined victory NOW! bush is messing up
to allow quagmire to take away and diminish that
defined victory...you can poor all the money in
the world down this dry hole...the Iraqis really
are not reciprocating with all the blood and treasure
that is being spent..yes some are but the evidence
is mostly bad. IRAQ IS NOT A SECURE PLACE and 186,000,000 million a day doesn't seem to be doing
the trick.

Someone posted a flushing commode I think that is
apropo.

THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE THE MONIES WE NEED ARE IN OUR JAILS GET RID OF ALL THE INMATES ON DEATH ROE AND SERVING TWO TO THREE LIFE SENTENCES THEN GET RID OF ANY SEX OFFENDERS THAT ARE CLASSIFIED AS REOFFENDERS, THEN THE MONEY WE SAVE ON BOARDING, MEALS, AND MEDICAL CAN BE SPENT ON THOSE IN THE KATRINA. BUT FOR LEAVING IRAQ THATS NOT EVEN A QUESTION OR THOUGHT TO ARISE, I'D RATHER FIGHT THESE FOOLS ON THIER TURFF THEN IN MY BACK YARD.STOP LOOKING AT THE SMALL PICTURE LOOK BIG!!

Yes, that is called winning. We do not have troops
in Vietnam 30 years after the war - this is called loosing.

BTW, every penny spent for the war in Iraq is part
of the Gross National Product (GNP) ;)

Osama Bin Laden is convinced that when Americands see thier own blood they will cut and run. Some of the people here show his statement true.
The fight is not optional. The geography is.Ignorance can be overcome but stupid lasts forever.

So, the definition of winning is whether or not we have troops stationed in the country in question 30 years later? That's an interesting definition. Sounds kind of like occupation and conquest.

I do have an additional question, how many years dictates "winning"? Is 30 the magic number" Why not 10, 15, 27.5 or 1000?

Just a thought.

just make those doing research using aborted fetus pay a tax for every baby they kill. put a federal tax on every casino dollar. then have a national lottery.

An extra 40 million working tax payers(those who have been aborted) would solve the budget and social security problems. The price we pay for sin.

Yes, an idea. Terrorism is an idea, a mindset, a cause... No matter how many people devoted to a cause you kill, the cause primarily grows.

This is espeecially clear in Iraq. Since the beginning of the war, terrorism has grown - not diminished. I actually feel less safe at home now (since the beginning of the war)than I did before it began.

To quote, either Jefferson of Franklin (I Can't remember which) - " A man who is willing to give up freedom for security, deserves neither."

Yeah, I agree! All these terrorists attacks in the USA since the war started have me jittery too!

You gotta quit depending on the MSM for your news.

I had an aunt several years ago who listened to ABC, CBS, and NBC exclussively, and she honestly believed that if the Repubs won the house in '94 that her Social Security would be cut in half, and all her stock would become worthless.

Pro 15:13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

Pro 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
If the only news you get is from these folks, it's gonna be hard to practice the admonitions in these verses.

Ever since May 2005 i've been celebration events 60 years ago.
Sixty years ago we occupied Germany, our troops are still there - we won.
Sixty years ago we occupied Japan, our troops are still there - we won.

I did not posit any fixed amount of time.

Even yet in Iraq we can snatch defeat from the very jaws of victory :(
