Do you (contributors) think it might have been easier to present Scriptures rather then a view?
I suppose not, because a number of posts lack Scriptures.
When one is in error, how is it that Paul states the believer's are to confront a person?
Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression (lapse, slip, error, trespass, ...), you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness (mildness, humility, ...). Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted (enticed, tested, ...).
What do you think that one reading this thread might consider? Is there an evidence of Spiritual discussion?
If one cannot be convinced by Scriptures, then human reasoning will last but a short time and be established upon wind and not foundation.
Paul writes to Jude:
Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.
Contend, struggle, even in agony, for the faith is not to be tool for beating on fellow believers, but that which was "
once for all delivered to the saints" is the standard. What was delivered "once for all?" The Scriptures! Through the Scriptures comes wisdom and understanding. Through the Scriptures comes the foundational truths that bring salvation, hope, endurance, ...
When one contends, then use what the Saints used - the Scriptures. "As it is written in ..." brings one to either accept the Scripture principles or be clearly under the authority of the Holy Spirit to bring conviction, righteousness, and judgement.
@JamesL should spend time thinking through the presentation of the Trinity in the Scriptures. John shows both the Father and Son co-equal and yet submissive to each other. Genesis opens with the plural Elohym and yet one creator in which all things exists. These are all areas that should carefully have been presented. Yet, I don't find much in the thread concerning a systematic teaching to edify, but a demand for conformity.
Hey, demand of conformity is like quoting from the Scriptures that men not be wearing women's apparel, and then telling the women don't wear pants while ignoring that men are wearing dresses.
Sometimes, isn't it better to let the Scriptures do the talking and taking the Scriptures as factual?
