Why you would want to limit what God can do I really do not understand.
Trying to comprehend what God DID DO and what God DID NOT DO in no way limits what God COULD DO. UNIVERSALISM is not "too hard" for God to do, God certainly could save EVERYONE WITHOUT EXCEPTION (or even choose to save no one, since damning all would still be JUST) ... however SCRIPTURE IS CLEAR that God DID NOT save everyone (universalism), so admitting that truth is not "limiting what God can do". It is embracing REALITY over some man-made fantasy.

So too, with both sides of the "atonement" question: The goal is TRUTH, not "what CAN God do?" God can do ANYTHING except be untrue to himself. So leave that "limiting God strawman" to rot in the trash can where it belongs.

The audience is whoever reads or hears it. God knew and intended that.
Parables (their reason for existing) suggest that God may broadcast information to ALL that he intends some to understand and God deliberately intends for others (most?) to not understand. Does God really care what those that DO NOT understand the Parables misinterpret them to mean? Was the information really "intended" for those that God did not want to understand it?

[Matthew 13:10-17 NASB95]
And the disciples came and said to Him, "Why do You speak to them in parables?" Jesus answered them, "To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. "For whoever has, to him [more] shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. "Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. "In their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says,
'YOU WILL KEEP ON HEARING, BUT WILL NOT UNDERSTAND; YOU WILL KEEP ON SEEING, BUT WILL NOT PERCEIVE; FOR THE HEART OF THIS PEOPLE HAS BECOME DULL, WITH THEIR EARS THEY SCARCELY HEAR, AND THEY HAVE CLOSED THEIR EYES, OTHERWISE THEY WOULD SEE WITH THEIR EYES, HEAR WITH THEIR EARS, AND UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART AND RETURN, AND I WOULD HEAL THEM.'
"But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. "For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see [it,] and to hear what you hear, and did not hear [it.]

[Mark 4:11-12 NASB95]
And He was saying to them, "To you has been given the mystery of the kingdom of God, but those who are outside get everything in parables, so that
WHILE SEEING, THEY MAY SEE AND NOT PERCEIVE, AND WHILE HEARING, THEY MAY HEAR AND NOT UNDERSTAND, OTHERWISE THEY MIGHT RETURN AND BE FORGIVEN."

[Luke 8:10 NASB95]
And He said, "To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest [it is] in parables, so that
SEEING THEY MAY NOT SEE, AND HEARING THEY MAY NOT UNDERSTAND.

Then if you want to leave the limiting God view in the trashcan then I think you should stop limiting what God can do. Calvinists are the ones that keep saying "limited atonement" not me.

Sigh, you are tiresome in your twisting.
When you stop having a man-centered theology where God takes a back seat to man, let us know.
I know you have me on ignore since you don't want to confront your error, but atpollard should recognize how you twist truth so that you try tomake error into truth and truth into error. Your post here is a perfect example of how you twist and intentionally attempt to misrepresent.

Sigh ... really.
Still can't comprehend the difference between GOD CAN DO and GOD DID DO so you play with cheap puns on theological terms.

Do you think the gospel itself to be a parable?

Is that what you thought I said?
Your post made an issue about parables. Romans 5:8 and Romans is about the hearing the gospel and understanding about the gospel. It was written to a church. And was read publicly. Not everyone who would hear it would be the saints. Remember what it did to Luther?

This thread is an attack on the Arminian understanding of the gospel as a false religion. Based on 2 Corinthians 11:4 Calvinist denial of the general redemption to me it becomes another gospel from which I bad come to believe Christ died in my place as my Savior, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8, Romans 10:9 and Romans 10:13. [BTW I am neither Arminian or Calvinist, but Baptist by whom and where I was lead to Christ. Summer of 1962.]

Sigh you are tiresome when will you stop twisting scripture to your Calvinist theology and just trust scripture.
Oh I don't have you on ignore. I just do not see any value in dealing with someone that refuses to see what scripture plainly says.

Why would you say that? I am not the one that holds to the so called limited atonement. You think God can only really love those He, according to you, elects. But that is not what the scriptures says is it.
Joh 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

For you to believe that verse you have to read into the text where world = elect. This is just one of many errors that you will see in Calvinism if you will just open your eyes.

Silverhair must believe that all sentences stand alone and you can create independent interpretations for each sentence in the Bible.
One of the really bad results of artificially breaking the Bible up into chapters and verses is that the full thought of the writer is often abandoned or not even known because the person reading only sticks with one verse as though it were a prooftext, regardless of the context.

Well you should know as that seems to be your forte.
