The news program (beginning at the 4 minute mark roughly and ending at the 22 minute mark of the live broadcast recorded on YouTube and Facebook and linked below) played YouTube video of Andy Stanley so that you can see and hear for yourself. AiG listened to all of False Teacher Andy Stanley's teachings and had many members of the theological staff review his work.

1. Andy Stanley says that he believes in the Big Bang Theory in contradicition of Genesis and that when Scripture and Science disagree, Science wins.

2. Andy Stanlye says that the foundation of our faith is not the infallible Scripture but who is Jesus in history.

3. He says that once someone finds error in the OT and the Creation Myth (his words), they lose faith because if one part is wrong, it is all wrong. However, "the Bible did not create Christianity." "The resurrection of Jesus created Christianity." He talks about the historical fact of the resurrection but it is thought that he is not talking about NT evidence but ancient sources.

4. Bodie Hodge noted that 25% of the New Testament is quotations from the Old Testament.

5. Andy Stanley said, "Peter, James, and Paul elected to unhitch the Christian faith from the Jewish Scriptures." Andy Stanley also said that the Ten Commandments should be thrown out.

6. Andy Stanley then says that we must do what he is teaching to find a pathway of a relationship with Jesus and quotes Acts 15:19. Acts 15:19 (KJV) Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

My personal opinion is that Andy Stanley is cultic and teaches the cult of liberalism from his pulpit. My advice to people in his churches is to run, not walk, for the nearest door. No one should ever give Andy Stanley a penny.

Actually, Ken Ham addressed that point if you listen to the video linked above. He and his staff, as I tried to point out in the thread, reviewed the material in detail and Ken Ham said that it would be unethical to do what you suggest. The video shows the link to Andy Stanley's YouTube postings, but I declined to link them because I do not want to promote false teaching. The statements in quotation marks are words that Andy Stanley printed on his own videos.

So, no, you are wrong to say that these are taken out of context. Actually, they are summaries of his teachings. The Baptist Board has already hosted threads about Andy Stanley's well-known statement that the OT should be unhitched from the NT so that fact is well documented. What we have here is just more detail about the background as to why Andy Stanley thinks that the OT is false.

All of those things listed here are bad/error understandings of the scriptures and of the faith, but does he deny Jesus is God, that His death is atonement for sinners, that God raised Him up, and that we are saved by grace alone faith alone ? Those are the issue sthat would declare him to be legit or heretic!

I agree with you that his views in regards to creation, Law , and the scriptures are very wrong, but still don't know how he views Jesus, Cross, Resurrection yet!

I might fairly headline this, “Pseudo-scientist Ken Ham Says Spring Season is a 24-Hour Day,” or “Ken Ham Followers Are Felines.” The lead in is mind numbing. But the rest is enough to make me suspect his ability to rightly interpret anything. Regardless of Andy Stanley, I would never want someone like Ken Ham or his panelists representing my viewpoint, and I am quite sure none of them would want someone that argues like them but disagrees with them representing theirs.

If you would watch the video, it has already been pointed out that Andy Stanley views the Resurrection as verified by secular historians. He wants you to have a relationship with Jesus. If he throws away the OT and 1/4 of the NT, what is left? Jesus is the Word and Andy Stanley disputes the Word--what more do you need.

The lady on the panel is a molecular biologist with a PhD, a highly scientific field. The other guy is a mechanical engineer and speaker. How can you defend what Andy Stanley says?

church mouse guy, it appears you entirely misread or misunderstood my post. I started with an example of how the panelists over interpret things, only I turned it back on them. Maybe the illustration was too pointed? I did not and don't defend all that Andy Stanley says, thus my use of “regardless.” Perhaps it is not as obvious to you as it is to me, but I do not believe the panelists fairly represented all that he was saying. To me the bias seemed extreme.

I see this sort of thing all too frequently. Perhaps there is a serious issue that needs to be addressed, but instead of fairly presenting it, someone comes in and makes all sorts of unreasonable statements regarding what someone said. This approach then clouds the real issue and makes it nigh impossible to deal with rightly.

As for the opening, perhaps you just really like cats? I can understand you defending Ham, but he made the statement without qualification or correction. Without other context, one might conclude he really thinks spring was a 24-hour day. I wouldn’t, but then I’m trying to be fair-minded. However, someone using Ken Ham’s approach could fairly do so. He should pray God doesn’t use it against him some day.

All these statements by Stanley have been discussed here before. As pointed out earlier, Stanley must be kept in proper context. Stanley is not in my list of preachers I regularly listen to, but I know a lot about him because our associate pastor used to be on staff with him. He definitely believes in infaliability of scripture and literal Genesis account of creation. I encourage you to listen to the entire series each clip was taken from. Notice I said series, not sermon. Stanley does not usually back track. If he is preaching sermon 7, he is not going to restate a qualifier he gave you in sermon 2.
