The Strasser brothers were from the left of the Nazi Party and fell out with Hitler shortly before he came to power because they wanted to steer the party in a.more socialist direction against his wishes. Gregor Strasser and other 'left Nazis' were brutally purged by Hitler for their socialist tendencies in the Night of the Long Knives.
