Pushing for government to be the answer to poverty or the needs of the people is socialism.
God looks on the heart. Pharisees look for legalistic excuses.
Do you see any scripture supporting democracy?
Do you see any scripture supporting mental hospitals?
Do you see any scripture supporting hospitals?
Do you see any scripture supporting inoculations?
Do you see any scripture supporting a tax deduction for contributions to charity?
Do you see any scripture supporting tax deductions for capital losses?
Such a legalistic list could go on forever and forever.
Who's a socialist? I'm a Christian who supports helping the poor. That desire comes from my faith. I would rather spend my tax money that way instead of on worthless wars of aggression like Viet Nam, Afghanistan and Iraq. Perhaps you'd rather bring back debtor's prisons or simply let them die in the streets. You have your beliefs and I have mine.
The Rev was right you're trying to redirect.
Those who use the law to confiscate the property of some to give to others shouldn't be accusing those who don't believe in it of being "legalistic".
You know what they say about people that live in glass houses right?
An answer that any good Pharisee in Jesus' time would be proud of. Very legalistic justification of unconcern for those in need.
Whoa! Your post is totally off the topic. Talk about a redirect.
All I was doing was pointing out that those who oppose helping the hungry, either through direct help or food stamps are treading on very thin ice IMHO.
We know how Christ viewed the legalistic approach of the Pharisees ... so we know how he will view Christian legalistic Pharisees.
This proves you don't read the Word with understanding. It also proves you are a disciple of Saul Alinsky.
The verse you quoted is Matthew 25:35. It is a "future quote" of Jesus, by Jesus. He is telling His disciples -- not the Pharisees or anyone else -- what will be said to the post-Rapture saints at the time of the judgment after His victorious return. It is said to those saints who will have risked life itself to minister to others, including those Christians in prison awaiting execution who will have refused to bow down and worship the antichrist.
Is it for us? Certainly. But "us" is not the government. "Us" is us, the church, corporately and individually. We are to surrender ourselves completely in this manner to Christ, giving over every aspect of our lives to Him, even to the point of defying whatever corrupt government is or may be in existence, for the cause of the gospel.
"Us" is to give time and tithe to the service of the Lord, not service of the government. The government has no right to more than the Lord, and traditionally if not from command, God has the right to expect a tenth of all of it. Which is pretty generous, when you consider He owns all of it anyway.
These posts proves you don't read the Word with understanding. It also proves you are a disciple of Saul Alinsky. One cannot serve Christ and Alinsky, or any other earthly idol.
Saul Alinsky's playbook as revised and upgraded by the Great Pretender.EBT failure is intended.
Sounds like a socialist tactic, put the people in a position of need, take away that supplied need, and they will give up rights and other things in order to get it back, will see the good working conservative people in this nation as the enemy, and will allow government to take more control in order to, in this case, eat.
He is like Zaac and FTW they all post out of pure emotion. But that is liberalism anyway. In the end they support an abortionist President who went to bed while Americans were being slaughtered in Benghazi as well and no amount of crying pharisee will cover that up.
If you actually did, your posts wouldn't come off reading like Karl Marx.Actually I post out of the teachings and words of Christ.

Actually I post out of the teachings and words of Christ.....
I don't believe Christ sounds like Karl Marx. I believe you sound like Karl Marx, not Christ. If you believe Christ sounds like Karl Marx ...
I don't believe Christ sounds like Karl Marx. I believe you sound like Karl Marx, not Christ.
And if you do not believe we are to help those in need, well ............. must hold the English idiom "pass by on the other side" as part of your personal beliefs and philosophy of your life. Yes, I know the idiom comes from the Bible ... but it has been turned into an idiom. Look it up.
