What are some of the most common misconceptions Protestants seem to have about Catholics and Catholicism?

We believe in:
"Works Salvation"
"Salvation without Faith"
"Worshiping Mary"
"Worshiping Statues"
"Worshiping Pope'
"Worshiping the Devil"
"Worshiping the Easter Bunny"
PRAY = WORSHIP
Not Born Again.
Not Christian.
Say only Catholics can be saved at the same time Universalists.

Woooooow. I'd like to say I'm surprised by your list, but I can't say I am (unfortunately).

I knew all of the other things about Catholics were true, but this one was new to me. :)

You forgot to mention that the Catholic Church is the “AntiChrist”, “the Beast”, or “Babylon” from Revelation.

(While technically I am not a Catholic, I was saved - heard the gospel - in a Catholic Church and studied A Catechism for Inquirers in consideration of becoming a member ... but ultimately chose not to).

Oh yeah, that's a big one.

So what are YOUR misconceptions about Catholics?

I know next to nothing about Catholicism, so it's hard to know how to answer that question.

I don't really have any preconceived notions. I guess it's difficult to have misconceptions when one doesn't have conceptions? Lol

Bottom line: I can only plead ignorance on this subject.

Alex is big brain. Practically catholic:Laugh I think its hipper to defend when your not catholic. :Ninja

Well, I will say I'm open minded, and I don't like to pretend to know something I don't know.

That alone seems to place me at odds with several individuals I've encountered on the Baptist board. ;)

Catechism of the Catholic Church

This is a link to catechism. Which is suppose to be a compendium of all Catholic doctrine.

If you want to debate catholic teaching this is the best spot to find ammunition.

I rarely debate the Catholic faith. I do often debate a misrepresentation of it.

Some systems are built very xenophobic?/biggoted. Us just us, us vs them and all other religions are guaranteed evil

Its like asking a Nazi what Jews believe. Probably not going to get favorable view of Jews.

We trust God enough in the faith he put you in, a conversion from you isn't required. We view other religions as brothers and sisters.

Imagine a religion that reflects the character of Jesus. Its not a religion that goes around stomping on the others ones, it tries to guide pickup and ideally will die for the other.

Love is the highest priority, I believe this priority can be found in all denominations.

Thank you for this information. I, for one, have grown weary of seeing those who have views that are not "Baptist" (or that do not conform to the majority here) being ridiculed, scorned, bullied, and harrassed on this board.

But, perhaps, I'm in the minority. It certainly appears that way. But from where I'm sitting, I find it disheartening, and just plain wrong. So be it.
