This is more than a "How much are you paying for gas this weekend?" It is also a TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE....

With the recent refinery fire in Oakland and the hurricane in New Orleans, gas prices across the nation are beginning to soar to new heights, and this is on a holiday weekend to boot!

NOW - Remember back to the days of George W. Bush....and how he'd not only be talking with the Saudi's to pump more oil; he'd even release oil from the national reserves. He always worked to lower the prices of gas for the average American.

So I aks: What is Obama doing?

NOTHING...and I hope none of you don't forget this on November 6, 2012!!!

BTW - how much are you paying for gas this weekend? We are now averaging close to $4.20 a gallon....:BangHead:

So I guess my wife and I will have to stay home this weekend and celebrate another Labor Day from the livingroom while we enjoy a burger and chips. :type:

Happy Labor Day!!!! :BangHead:

Thanks BIG UNION BOSSES for giving us another reason to dread having to fill up our gas tanks this weekend!!!

(Of course, I'M SURE that the oil companies WOULD NEVER STOOP SO LOW AS TO UP THEIR PRICES just because they THOUGHT Isaac might pose a threat to their oil rigs didn't add ONE CENT to the price that the dealers had to mark up on their independently-owned filling stations!!! )

That's a pretty convenient memory lane you're going down. Despite numerous calls to release oil from the strategic petroleum reserves to bring down gas prices, George W. Bush always resisted it and only did it once, and not to bring down prices--after hurricane Katrina. When gas prices went over $4.00 a gallon in the summer of 2008 Bush did not release any oil.

Obama has released oil from the reserves before, back in June 2011, and he is considering doing it again right now.

Wow !!!!

$8.25 a gallon

Thanks for sharing. Perspective is everything! I guess we should not complain...but I still have those memories from my High school days in the early 70's of buying gas here in the Greenville SC area for .35 cents per gallon. sighhhhh! Them days are gone forever!

Let's put that in perspective. That was also in the days when teachers made about $5000 a year. So .35 cents a gallon was pretty expensive.

Around $4 here. I expect $5/gal by next Christmas at the latest AND people will still be driving to work in trucks that will pull a 20 foot boat over Snoqualimie Pass at 10 over the speed limit.

Well, it's only a few stations that won't actually post them.

Salty, I've been doing math 7 hours a day, five days a week, for the last two weeks. It's a four day weekend. STOP THAT!

Alcott, you need a scolding as well. I almost snorted laughing!

Math is very simple. 2 + 2 always = 4 - unless you are a Democrat
