What do you think I am wrestling with? I firmly believe that Christ paid for the sins of the whole world. And secured salvation of those who believe in Him, John 6:47.I think it is based on what you are wrestling with...that is what we are exploring.
General Redemption....You did not say anything meaningful.
Acts of the Apostles 16:31.
And
Ephesians 2:8.
Do.
That is an interpertation. That is no where so stated in the word of God.
General Redemption....could you define that?John Owen's term.
Is it actual redemption?
Yes per 1 John 2:2, which John Owen denies has that meaning.
Does it Redeem? Does Christ redeem?
Or only potential? Was for only those who never accept Christ.
Who are the objects? The whole world per 1 John 2:2.
Are you saying that the whole world is redeemed?
General Redemption aka Unlimited Atonement.
Can you explain your view of this"general atonement, in light of jn 6:37?
salvation is the gift in eph2...repentance and faith are grace gifts that are part of that salvation. You did not say anything meaningful.
Acts of the Apostles 16:31.
And
Ephesians 2:8.
Do.
He did not pay for every single persons sin, or they would not go into second death. What do you think I am wrestling with? I firmly believe that Christ paid for the sins of the whole world. And secured salvation of those who believe in Him, John 6:47.
Could you answer in detail post 15,and 17...thanks
Saving faith is a gift from God. Men do not have it.

Within the general atonement is the particular atonement specifically for whom Christ came to save. Those outside the particular atonement will be in John Owen's own words be "deeper damned" because of the general "redemption." - see To The Reader in. Owen's book."37818,
This is a definite work of God. It saves a multitude of sinners who the Father has given to the Son.
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me;
and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Both verses support God doing the work. Faith is the effect of God working so that a person believes.Acts of the Apostles 16:31, ". . . Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, . . ."
Ephesians 2:8, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; . . ."
Acts of the Apostles 16:31, ". . . Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, . . ."
Ephesians 2:8, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; . . ."
Amen.Acts of the Apostles 16:31, ". . . Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, . . ."
Read Ephesians 2:1-9 because it will show you how you are misunderstanding verse 8.You did not say anything meaningful.
Acts of the Apostles 16:31.
And
Ephesians 2:8.
Do.
Again, amen.Ephesians 2:8, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; . . ."
". . . shall be saved, . . ." Follows believing in Christ! Faith precedes salvation! It's denial is an issue. But not the subject of this thread.Acts 16 saying to believe does not address the issue in anyway.
Is a strawman argument.. . . if redemption is general, then all have been redeemed out of the hand of the enemy and no one will suffer an eternity in Hell . . .
Another strawman argument. Why are you lifting up humans as the ones who cause faith, which effects God to save them?
Don't leave this one out please:
...we trust in the living God,
who is the Saviour of all men,
specially of those that believe.
God our Savior is also the General of general.
This verse does not describe the unseen work of the Holy Spirit, which brings about salvation. Your conclusion is wrong because you ignore this;". . . shall be saved, . . ." Follows believing in Christ! Faith precedes salvation! It's denial is an issue. But not the subject of this thread.
