In what way? I have no idea what your thinking is on this or how you can consider a right-winged political philosophy to suddenly be left-wing. Fascist and Communist have always hated each other.

The political philosophy has not changes.

Here is a list of 14 characteristics of fascism and it is definitely right-wing:

The 14 characteristics are:

    • Powerful and Continuing Nationalism
Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.
    • Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights
Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.
    • Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause
The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
    • Supremacy of the Military
Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
    • Rampant Sexism
The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.
    • Controlled Mass Media
Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.
    • Obsession with National Security
Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.
    • Religion and Government are Intertwined
Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.
    • Corporate Power is Protected
The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
    • Labor Power is Suppressed
Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed .
    • Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts
Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.
    • Obsession with Crime and Punishment
Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.
    • Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.
    • Fraudulent Elections
Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.
The 14 Characteristics of Fascism, by Lawrence Britt, Spring 2003

No administration in my memory has been an advocate of all 14, but your hero Obama was a solid 11.

CTB, this is my problem with your position. My father and uncle actually fought against the Axis. Dad was in the CBI and Uncle Skip in the Pacific, though that was a matter of God's Providence. They could just as easily been in the ETO\North Africa.

So, I parse the use of Fascist and Nazi fairly strictly. I do not loosely use the terms. Nationalists and populists are not automatically F\Ns. Mussolini and Hitler were opportunists. Both of their platforms sought to bring "order" from chaos. So, they spewed forth rhetoric which took on nationalist and populist terminology.

But that was then and this is now. The street violence being seen bears a closer resemblance that of the black and brown shirts. These rioters are facing the police not the bully boys of an opposition party.

My point is, from what I've read of your positions over the years, you would paint me with the F\N brush. Because I take more nationalist and smaller government approach. However, let me assure you, under the proper circumstances, I'd take a pot shot at either.

And I think that everyone would like to see the socialist/communist dictators of Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Argentine Cristina Fernández de Kirchner brought to trial for crimes against humanity. Kirchner is a real fascist--a Peronist, like Pope Francis.

Google, as everyone knows, is part of silicon valley, which is solidly Democrat and hates Trump beyond the pale of logic. In fact, Google and the Democrats, to allude to Shakespeare, out-Herod Herod in their illogical rant of calling Trump names such as fascist, homosexual, and incestuous.

Does not matter. Fascism has always been associated with the right wing.

Which is why I don't ordinarily use the right<->left political spectrum. It isn't all that accurate when describing the extreme ends as both end in totalitarian regimes. I believe the totalitarian<->anarchy spectrum is more accurate in the current time period.

Falsely so. It has always been the left that advocates an all powerful government and spawns one dictator after another.

Wrong. Nazi Germany was a right-wing totalitarianist, militaristic government that used capitalism to achieve its ends. Nazi Germany was at war with communism and socialism.

Edited by poster: Hitler lost his election but was appointed chancellor, but the Nazi party achieved 37% of the vote and was a political power.

Funny how Hitler is always the go to example of a right wing dictator. The left wing has scores of them.

But Trump does not exhibit the traits of a left-wing dictator. He does exhibit some traits of a right-wing dictator. And, the thread is about the right wing and Trump.

Nuff said.

And the man paying for this is not a lover of the GOP.
And this is not limited to the white people, many times when asked I have had both white and black men tell me they vote Democrat because Lincoln was a Democrat and the Republicans are the party of the Rich. The ignorance is astounding.

I agree both are totalitarian in nature. Both use similar means to obtain and maintain power. The two do differ in their philosophy, what they emphasize. Regardless of where one would like to place Trump ... right or left ... he exhibits a totalitarian nature, a right-wing or fascist nature. I seriously doubt he has ever read a book on either the right or left. I take him at his word that he does not read books.

Again, I believe we are dealing with a new "evolutionary path" in the progression of satanic evil.

Perhaps the phase just before the appearing of "the man of sin" aka the antichrist though there be many forerunners.

The final manifestation will be like no other "who is like unto the beast?".

Ok, then call it satanic evil. But fascism has been a right-wing construct.

Yes, the left wing has scores of socialistic or communistic dictators, not fascists. I could have brought up Mussolini as well.

Anarchy <> Totalitarianism is another way to look at an ideological spectrum. But the thread is about conservative/liberal and how they relate to fascism.

True and communism has been a left wing construct.

Now they have hybridized into "the beast" IMO.

HankD

Sorry Hank, I disagree. Nothing has hybridized or merged. Fascists still hate Communist and vise versa ... the few Communists that are left. Currently there are five countries, China, Cuba, North Korea, Laos and Vietnam, that claim Communist governments.

Syria, Bulgaria, Armenia, Venezuela and Bolivia have fascists elements in their governments to one degree or another.

There is no way to say these countries have a merged Communist -- Fascist philosophy.
