Jesus called Peter Satan himself...and you want to say he was saved?Jesus said Judas was a devil... and you want to say he was saved?
And yet that is EXACTLY what Scripture says.Judas did not repent
Peter wasn't indwelt by satan, though.HisWordIsTruth said:Jesus called Peter Satan himself...and you want to say he was saved?
Well "you" keep saying that, but your are light on the Scripture.Judas' repentance was not a godly repentance.
Another assumption. Not a good thing to do.He did not confess his sins to God, he confessed to man.
Actually it does. God told us so it MUST matter.Whether you believe man is trichotomous our dichotomous matters not.
Are you a moonlight comedian standingfirm, because that had me rolling. I have provided Scripture for every belief that I have espoused and the Scripture that I have given backed up exactly what I have stated.Your doctrines are based on many assumptions, HWIT.

Wow---you are really twisting Scripture here. Jesus NEVER called Peter Satan, NEVER. When Jesus said "Get thee behind me Satan, He was rebuking the spirit behind Peter's statement, NOT Peter himself. Remember, Peter had just confessed that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the Living God. What you just said, HWIT, is ludicrous and a terrible twisting of the Word of God.HisWordIsTruth said:Jesus called Peter Satan himself...and you want to say he was saved?
Absolutely standingfirm. I have never said otherwise! Of course it matters. It matters a great deal. But we must understand it as it was given, not as we want it to be. There is a GREAT deal of difference there.Jesus preached belief, repentance, and confessing... so it MUST matter.
John 17:12 would seem to put your notion Judas was saved to rest.HisWordIsTruth said:And yet that is EXACTLY what Scripture says.
Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
There it is again. And yet again we have standingfirm's words and Scripture at odds.
Linda I don't know what to make of your statements here. You say this and then you post the actual text where Jesus DOES IN FACT call Peter Satan.Wow---you are really twisting Scripture here. Jesus NEVER called Peter Satan, NEVER.
Come on now. He was rebuking the spirit but not the personHe was rebuking the spirit behind Peter's statement, NOT Peter himself.
Peter was not mentioned as being lost in John 17:12, but you conveniently leave that out...HisWordIsTruth said:Linda I owe you an apology. I mis-spoke. I said you quoted the text, but you really "didn't." You only quoted a "portion" of the text. Wonder why that is? Let's see:
But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
Oh yeah, because when we look at what it SAYS it refutes what "Linda" says.
Jesus SAID UNTO PETER. PETER WAS AN OFFENCE. PETER was savoruing the things of men not of God. It was PETER that was the topic of conversation there.
Well here is the actual text.John 17:12 would seem to put your notion Judas was saved to rest.
It does say he was lost...unless you think a believer can be lost somehow temporaly?HisWordIsTruth said:Well here is the actual text.
While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
Where does that say Judas is headed southward for eternity? I don't see it.
So now you want to make the assumption (mental gymnastic) that because the word "lost" is used that this somehow means Judas is headed for the everlasting flames?Peter was not mentioned as being lost in John 17:12, but you conveniently leave that out...
