Hmm. I thought it was about the gold standard and populism versus bimetalism. Why, do you think, Dorothy's shoes were silver in the book?Originally posted by Bro. James Reed:
Of course, many claim that the Wizard of Oz is Satanic as well.
It's all about good being triumphant over evil. ....
Only a yankee plutocrat would consider silver dull grey.Originally posted by Bro. James Reed:
Because, when introducing the world to color theater, you want bright red, not bland grey.
See how as a saint is a person saved by the blood of Jesus Christ, do we see evidence of the gospel being preached in these books, of HP being savied?Saint or Sinner?
That happens. It also happens that two Christians come to very different opinions when they both have Scripture as the standard.Originally posted by donnA:
I've noticed on here and with christians I know that with some topics it doesn't matter what scripture says, that can be explained away, as long as the person wants what they want, thier opinion (and the world's) is their standard, not scripture.
No disagreement there. In practical application, though, in my youth, I used to watch The Wizard of Oz once a year on tv. In those ancient pre-VCR days.Originally posted by donnA:
Theres only one christian prespective on witchcraft. And thats God's respective, which He gave us in the Bible. He didn't say oh well, if it isn't serious witchcraft then it's ok. Got no scripture for that one.
As long as you are equally against The Wizard of Oz, the Narnia chronicles, and The Lord of the Rings, then I can understand that reasoning, even if I disagree with it. Those who find fault with Harry Potter while accepting some of these others will need to find reasons that don't paint with so broad a brush.Originally posted by donnA:

Thank you, donnA, but I think the average Christian knows witchcraft is condemned by the Bible. That is not the issue. The issue is, do HP novels contain it? Yes or no?Originally posted by donnA:
Heres what God says,
Micah 5:12; Galatians 5:19-21 etc., etc.,

I have no love for the RC system of religion, or the Papal office, but the Pope isn't wrong about everything. He believes in the Trinity doesn't he?Originally posted by TexasSky:
Considering my opinion of the present Pope, I would call that a high endorsement FOR the Harry Potter books.
Once again I think you are missing the point of the poll and the thread. Withcraft is wrong - end of story. Satanism is without excuse - no argument, but does Rowling's works stray into Satanism or are they pure fantasy? I have never read one. It is interesting that of those who have most do not identify any Satanism within the text. Is that because they lack spiritual discernment or because it isn't there?Originally posted by donnA:
