Has no Biblical foundation

In post #78 I outlined a time line for the days of the week leading up to and including the resurrection of Jesus Christ from a clear starting point given by the Bible in John 12:1. All these days were given by an eye witness and inspired apostle of Jesus Christ and was easily tracked and numbered. Now I am wondering why there is any doubt about the time line.

I would like to be checked out and told why I have misinterpreted the information if someone disagrees.

In post #78 where do you place the High Day Sabbath? There were 2 Sabbaths that week.

The first day of Unleavened Bread, and the Saturday weekly Sabbath.

It is irrelevant. John said Jesus entered Bethany 6 days before Passover. Mark and John accounted for each day, numbering 8 days. There is no doubt that Jesus was in the tomb the full day on the sabbath else there is no typology in scripture. I suppose the reason for the Zacchaeus story and why Jesus said he must stay at his house is because of the Sabbath restriction on a journey. The Bible says his house was near to Jerusalem.

Lk 19:5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.

So what day was the High Day Sabbath in John 19:31?

Where do you place it?

John was referring to the first day of Unleavened Bread, the High Day that week.

Christ was crucified on the preparation day before this Sabbath day began.

And then there was also the Sat. weekly Sabbath.

What is a high Sabbath Day and where in the scriptures will I confirm it. I am asking because I want to know.

We talked about that earlier in this thread.

There are 7 High Day Sabbaths annually that can fall on any day of the week.

The first of the 7 High Days is "the first day of Unleavened Bread" that takes place at Passover the week Christ was crucified.

The preparation day was missed by the ladies although they were there to prepare the body for burial. There was not time before the Sabbath. This is why they showed up on Sunday Morning. The Sabbath restrictions was not a concern on resurrection day as indicated by the 2 disciples on the way to Immaus in Lk 24.

13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.

They returned the same day after meeting Jesus on the way. Round trip would be 6 furlongs.

I agree! Now, did Christ die on the preparation day before the High Day Sabbath or Sat. the weekly Sabbath?

John said it was the High Day, and then the weekly Sabbath on Sat. was yet to come.

I have explained my understanding.

We are dealing with 4 periods of seven days.
Seven days of unleavened bread.
Seven days of of the feast of unleavened.
Seven days of a week.
Our seven Roman named days.

I am persuaded the seventh day Sabbath during the week of the feast is that High Day in John 19:31.

So you're saying that the Sabbath High Day fell on Sat. the weekly Sabbath. That would mean Sat. was the High Day and the weekly Sabbath combined.

Oh Boy will you have a difficult time proving that!

You know a lot more about the high day than I do. I was asking for Bible explanation on it so I could consider it. I do know that the first 4 days when Jesus was coming to and from Bethany and the Mount of Olives and Jerusalem would have exceeded a sabbath days journey round trip so we can rule them out. It could not be on the 8th day because of Cleopas and his friend so we are left with day 5, 6, 7, it seems to me.

See that's the problem JD, we don't know what day the High Day Sabbath for the Passover fell that week.

If it fell on Sat. the weekly Sabbath and those 2 days were combined in one Sabbath, that would be a Fri. crucifixion. Jesus being crucified on Fri. on the preparation day before the Sabbath. That would mean Christ was in the tomb for one day and two nights, when He said He would be in the tomb 3 days and 3 nights. As far as I'm concerned a Fri. crucifixion is impossible.

The same for a Thur. crucifixion, that would mean the High Day fell on Fri. with Christ crucified on Thur., that would be 2 days and 3 nights in the tomb.

The only one that fits, in my opinion is a Wed. crucifixion. The High Day fell on Thur. and Christ crucified on the day before, Wed., with this Christ would have been in the tomb 3 days and 3 nights as He said.

Per Exodus 12:18. The 14th of Nisan.
Believed to be 30 AD, Julian date Wednesday, April 5.

You're making the mistake of believing the evening of the 14th day of Nisan was at nightfall and beyond.

It wasn't, it was in the afternoon. At sunset Wed. began, the 15th day of Nisan.

The 9th hour is famous in the Scripture to referring to the evening sacrifice at 3pm.

Of course this is an example of how the 14th turns into the 15th.

The week of Christs' crucifixion we don't know for sure what day the 15th was or the year for that matter.

  • First Day of Unleavened Bread (15th): Begins at sunset on the 14th, which marks the start of the 15th.
Once you get this down then you can move on.
