I thought it was quite appropriate considering what she put forth as her view of Jesus, and what others have been saying. Heck, considering that, it didn't go far enough. Perhaps a picture of Jesus as Rambo would have been even more appropriate.
If we are not going to take the very words of Jesus seriously, how can we with any honesty claim to be His followers? Did He just put forth those standards as ideals which we should never try to live by? I don't think so. It may not be possible to always live by them or live up to them, but I believe we should try. We should not just ignore them or disregard them, like some here apparently want to do.
See, this is one aspect of what I referred to as cultural religion. Since people seem to want to bring politics into it -- and the only reason I posted that caption with something political in it is because I couldn't find anything else to make my point. Anyway, people either want to see Jesus as a Democrat or socialist redistributing wealth, or a neocon ready to do battle and practice an eye for an eye. Both of these positions are sickening and dishonor Jesus.
If we profess Jesus, we had better take Him at His word, and we had better try to follow Him.
A consistent pro-life ethic would have us be pro-life on abortion and euthanasia and anti- death penalty. Neither liberals nor conservatives are consistent.
