Has your opinion the death penalty changed after SC church massacre?

I'm not a professed follower in the sense that you intended. I AM a follower. And your assessment of what I said is inaccurate.

Turning Jesus into a Mother Theresa -Ghandi type is turning him into a milquetoast, passive, tiptoe-through-the-tulips, let's-don't-even-step-on-a-bug type. You knew exactly what I was talking about.

That's not Jesus at all.

Ignore the naysayers. It is very appropriate because this is the mindset of a lot of people on this board and throughout the church.

This is one of the many reasons why there is no perceived difference between many in the Church and those in the world.

But some have the gall to call the Democrats the party of death.

How on earth do we go from preaching the forgiveness of Jesus in one breath to being proponents for the same government that sanctions abortion to also sanction taking an adult's life?

The Democratic version of a similar pic would say ,"Forget what I said about the fire of Gehenna awaiting anyone who calls anyone a fool; forget that I chased out moneychangers with a whip; forget that I referred to gentiles as dogs-- and certainly that I said a man Shasta cleave unto his *wife*-- either be glad you're not white or ashamed that you are!"

I thought it was quite appropriate considering what she put forth as her view of Jesus, and what others have been saying. Heck, considering that, it didn't go far enough. Perhaps a picture of Jesus as Rambo would have been even more appropriate.

If we are not going to take the very words of Jesus seriously, how can we with any honesty claim to be His followers? Did He just put forth those standards as ideals which we should never try to live by? I don't think so. It may not be possible to always live by them or live up to them, but I believe we should try. We should not just ignore them or disregard them, like some here apparently want to do.

See, this is one aspect of what I referred to as cultural religion. Since people seem to want to bring politics into it -- and the only reason I posted that caption with something political in it is because I couldn't find anything else to make my point. Anyway, people either want to see Jesus as a Democrat or socialist redistributing wealth, or a neocon ready to do battle and practice an eye for an eye. Both of these positions are sickening and dishonor Jesus.

If we profess Jesus, we had better take Him at His word, and we had better try to follow Him.

A consistent pro-life ethic would have us be pro-life on abortion and euthanasia and anti- death penalty. Neither liberals nor conservatives are consistent.

The Democrats ARE THE PARTY OF DEATH.....and homosexual marriages and liberalism verging on socialism (and I am being KIND).

If you say so. That doesn't free the GOP from also being the party of death and homosexual marriage and "political conservatism" bordering on hate ( and I'm being kind).

I take it that you believe the Democrat Party and the GOP both to be anti-Christ in platform. Do you then advocate abstaining from supporting either party (as both would be supporting evil in opposition to God)?

I could bet you money Jon that our boy Zac either votes straight Democrat or doesn't vote at all.

Perhaps.....but then again, maybe he is not so hypocritical as many make him out to be. Either way, I'll pass on taking you up on that bet. :wavey:

Oh please......show some depth to your posting to another Christian will ya.

There was depth to it. More than what she posted. Sometimes it takes sarcasm and exaggeration to make a counterpoint to something inaccurate and absurd.

Yes. I have seen nothing of either party in the last 20 years that tells me that they deserve my vote.

If you had the money, I'd take you up on that bet and you would miserably lose. Number 1, if you show no love for Jesus, you can't have my vote. Number 2, if you don't show love for others, you can't have my vote. Number 3, if you support abortion, you can't have my vote. Number 4,if you support capital punishment, you can't have my vote.
