SInce becoming a born-again believer, have you or anyone you personally know encountered a demon possessed individual, and if you did how did you know they were possessed and what course of action did you or those with you take to address the demon?

And in case you don't believe in demon possession of nonbelievers, can you explain what reasons are behind your non belief in demon possession?

I think demon possession in this church age is impossible. The next possession of a body we will see is when Satan possesses the Antichrist. Then again, I won't see it.

There is no mention of any possession in the Old testament, by any evil spirits. Only in Christ's time are we told of demon possessions.

Second, the New Testament epistles have no instructions for casting out demons. All signs, tongues, possessions have ceased. Demon casting was one of the signs on the apostles. There are no more apostles.

Third, we don't dee biblical accounts of demon possession, like breaking chains and such, like the guy in Gadara.

Spiritual oppression in not demon possession.

It happened all the time in the Synoptics. How do you know it can't happen today? It does happen and I have spoken with people that can verify it.

A missionary in my church was in the Philippines and told a story of a man possessed by a devil that could speak other languages that the man did not know and could see things behind corners that no human could see.

Also a African I used to know told me some freaky stories of devils doing all kinds of things. In Africa people are open and so devils run wild. In America relativists and humanists do not believe in devils. But you watch satan will not keep people skeptics forever. He wants people to move to the New a Spirituality religion.

I said it did, in the Gospels and in the time of Acts. Never denied it. I deny it happens today.

I cannot consider anecdotal evidence from a third party.

Someone tell me how one goes about removing a demon from a possessed person. Is it something only laity can do ?

Hmm.. I don't know nor can I explain as I was not there, however you need to work on the way you speak about men of God.

I believe that if one is really doing that, its to unsaved persons, and the power of God will have the Demon come out quickly!

Jesus never had all day sessions!

The big difference between opression and possession! While believers cannot be possessed, they can suffere from oppression (i.e., Job)!

I would disagree about there being no possessions in the OT, there was a form of demon possessions as the sons of god married the daughters of man (Genesis 6: 2, 4). These hideous, unnatural beings were one reason for the flood, as God needed to be rid of this unholy union and start over. This is supported in 2 Peter 2:4 passage reads, “For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah...” (NKJV) Also read, 1 Peter 3: 19 - 20 and Jude 6 - 7.

rd2, you ask, "Have you encountered a demon possessed person?"

I assume you mean..., in the flesh? Can't say for sure but I have met some weird folks along the way that would lead me to believe such.

Now many of those I've meet on forum boards..., well, that's another story all together. Indeed..., a resounding yes! If not specifically demon possessed one could conclude perhaps they aren't fully convinced as to whom they serve. One clear red flag is if they merely participate to inflate their ego..., they might want to consider they really are not serving the one they should be serving.

same here.
but I seldom tell my primitive baptist brethren because many of them don't seem to think it can happen.
I get the feeling of being patronized, for want of a better word.

were those people saved or not though?

And did you need to do rctended periods, or was it quickly done?

the only time that it was extended period was due to Apostles lack of faith, as jesus and paul had the demons out right away!

they were unbelievers, or non-believers, whatever you prefer.

one was a member's relative, and she started to react as soon as the Bibles were opened. Stiffened, eyes darting here and there.
Songs were sung, and when we sang "Nothing but the blood", the fireworks began.
She fell to the floor, stiffer and harder than the boards on it.
We brought her to the pastorate, where I was assigned to keep watch while services went on.
After services, the "exorcism" went for some hours until towards evening she burped, yes, burped, real loud and long and we felt a waft of air, or breeze, come out of her and out the doors of the church, and then she, well, was fine.

And I've also seen a sight none of you here on this board, nor my PB brethren, have ever seen, and I still have my hairs stand on end when I remember it.
80 fahrenheit, sun out, few clouds, but thunder, lightning, and dark clouds just feet above the roof of a nipa hut, inside of which a pair of 200 lbs men, rippled muscles and all from farming and hard work, could barely hold down a 130 lbs teenager, screaming and frothing from his mouth, screaming "he's coming to get me at 6pm, he's coming to get me at 6pm".
They finally had his arms tied behind him with a 1/4 inch double thread abaca twine, and his feet tied together with the same twine, and his knees, front and behind, protected by pillows, tied together with laundry wire (not ropes).
At 5:30 the pastor came (from my Bible Baptist church), we sang songs, he prayed.
At 6 pm, the young man stood upright, without bending his knees, like somebody stood him up, and snapped the twine around his wrists like they were nothing, the burly guys grabbed him, brought him down back to the floor, and the party began.
thunders, rumblings, wind, just in the locality of the hut, neighbors watching, police watching, everybody scratching their heads, fiesta atmosphere.
went on overnight.
then stopped as abruptly as it began.

oh, yes, everybody thanked the pastor, but barely anybody came to church, including the burly guys and the young man, and his relatives.
you know, hey, deliver me from this thing, will ya ?
okay, thanks.
Jesus ?
no, you keep him, I'm fine with my religion.
