God worked through Peter in that all who came to him were healed.
Does God work that way today?
No he does not. That has been my point all along. And you deny it every time.

DHK, you proceeded to tell everyone what I sent to you in a private message and then you said:

That's pretty strong stuff coming from one who calls herself a Christian.

Well see that's some of what I don't understand;
you have said thatWOF people should be taken out and shot, and also that people on the board who don't agree with you on certain issues are following satan and operating thru satan

Isn't that pretty strong stuff for a man who calls himself a Christian?

What happened to do unto others?

And by the way, the answer to your question,

Yes, God works the same way now that he did in the book of Acts.

As soon as He tells me where He is going to heal every body, I will let you know and we will both go.

In the meantime, he will heal who He wants, where He wants and when He wants.(which is how He's always done it anyway)

Hey Tam, listen to what God is doing, in India. I posted this before, but it still holds true.

I have neighbor that just returned from India, just a few months ago. He was showing me videos and pictures of his missionary trip.

In one video, a lady (resident of India) was deaf. She came to the missionaries to be prayed for; that God would restore her hearing.

My neighbor said and I saw this also, on the video, that when he and the other ministers layed hands on her that she instantly received her hearing.

You could see her smile in approval of what God had done. It seems to me that people that hear the gospel don't know anything else but to believe in what the Word of God says, if they are taught properly.

BTW, she was the only one that came expecting God to heal her and I suppose one could say that all that came were healed, if one thinks that prayer for healing works that way. Personally, I don't!

Hey MEE,

I saw a video last weekend of a lady that had been crippled, was in a wheel chair and when Rev. Kayanga prayed for her and laid hands on her, she got up out of her wheelchair, and could barely put one foot in front of the other, but she slowly started to go, and the more she walked, the straighter her feet got, and the more straight she stood!!

This was in Japan, and the new converts over there too just believe what the bible says!!

Praise God for the faith of a little child.!!

When we believe with faith like a child, God rewards it!!

Working for Jesus,

Tam,

And sometimes we don't get healed and we don't know why!! That's the sad part.

I don't think it's the fault of the person asking for healing.

I have no idea why all people are not healed.

Healings and conversions on the street
In November 1999, Costa Mitchell, leader of the Vineyard movement in Africa, was attending seminars in Nairobi. Every day, he walked from his hotel to the conference center, preaching on various street corners. Every day, several people decided to follow Christ, including Muslims and Sikhs. "Mitchell offered to pray for the sick on the street," reports Marco Briotti from Johannesburg. "One day, a man whose knee had been stiff for several years was healed, so that he could move his knee normally and jump around. A woman deaf in one ear was healed, and could hear normally. One man who was saved one Monday through Mitchell's preaching, was standing on the street on Tuesday, preaching himself."

Tam, below are two good answers!

**In reference to the "lunatick son" where the disciples couldn't cast the devil out, because of their unbelief.

Matt. 17:21
21) Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
**Again the disciples couldn't cast out and evil spirit, because of their unbelief. .
Mark: 9:29
29) And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
Well, here's my two bits on this subject.
In answer to the question: "Does God do the healing in the same manner as He did in the New Testament Age, where all that came to the Apostles were healed?" Since this is determined by the one asking the question ..that it is a one part question.. In my opinion the answer is no. Obviously, the Apostles are gone and no one can come to them. Had the question ended with the comma, my answer is yes.
"Because the gift has ceased."
"It demonstrates that the gift of healing has ceased."
The above statements were copied from the moderators post and I disagree with them.
First, the Scriptures also disagree with it. (Jn. 14:12-15)(1 Cor. 12:4-11)
Secondly, "what I have seen and heard myself" disagrees with it.
Before I was saved my 6 yr old daughter fell off the tractor I was driving and I ran over her. It was a Massey 31 H.P. with cast iron box blade disk in raised position. The rear tire centered her body from the chest to pubic bone. I was in the driveway at the time. I had no doubt that I had just killed my child. Paralyzed, my wife put her in the car and rushed to the small town hospital wher she was x-rayed. The tech. said that she was broken up inside and had to be rushed to the large hospital 40 miles away. I saw my mother-in-law lean over her and pray. I felt, at that time, it was a useless thing to do. The next afternoon, while sitting by her bed in the hospital, two doctors came in and began discussing the results of x-rays they had taken. One said that he saw a hairline crack in the pubic bone while the other, a pediatric physican, told him that the bone had not grown together yet due to her age. Both turned to me and told me that I was fortunate to have been in plowed ground when the accident happened. I told them I was in the driveway (I am sure they did not believe me). The tread marks were visible across her body, but they could not find anything wrong with her. Two days late she was climbing her favorite tree in the yard. That day, when the doctors said that they could find nothing wrong with her, I knew there was a God and that He was personally interested in me and that he answered prayer. I could not have survived the killing of my daughter. My mother-in-law was more like Jesus than person that I have ever known. Her life and testimony drove me to realize that Jesus is the Christ, Savior and King.
A year or so later my wife and I were visiting a friend in the local hospital. She had hemorrhoid surgery, they were abcessed and it was done with a local anesthetic. She was in much pain and distress because not all were removed. She had to come back in 3 weeks to get the rest removed. When we were leaving she asked me to pray with her. I was startled to hear that still,quiet voice that I have come to love to hear, say "Pray and I will heal her". At that time I didn't understand all the theology or really care, I just prayed what He told me to pray. That was on a Saturday night, Monday morning she called us from a payphone in town and said the most amazing thing had happened.
She was pain free, there were no more hemorrhoids to remove and the Doctor, who was a Christian told her to enjoy her healing, that it did not happen often. He truly does use the weak and insignificant in this world to show His amazing love.
I know this is a long post, and I apologize.
I have been following Jesus for 30 years now, and as more time passes, the less I am impressed with theology degrees and seminary training. Jesus was not impressed with them either - e.g. Nicodemus and the other learned men of the day.
Acts 4:13-14 Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were
uneducated and untrained men,, they were amazed, and {began} to recognize them as having been with Jesus 14. And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they had nothing to say in reply.
No one heals on their own, if so, Paul would have healed himself of his thorn in the flesh. He would have also healed.. (2 Tim 4:20) Erastus remained at Corinth, but Trophimus I left sick at Miletus.
I have read all the posts on this subject and I appreciate the opinions of all and hope not to have offended anyone.
"Taken out and shot" is a figure of speech. I would never advocate murder or taking the law into my own hands. I would use that same figure of speech to describe the "supposed" consequence of an abortionist. He should be taken out and shot. Why? He is a murderer. A false teacher murders the soul; the abortionist murders the body. Is one any more serious than the other? The consequences of the false teacher's action is far more eternally damning.
Either way, "should be taken out and shot" is a figure of speech, not applicable to me directly. I have no authority to shoot anyone, nor ever would.
All of that is speaking fairly generally. I certainly don't say that about all who disagree with me.
2 John 1:9-11 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
And by the way, the answer to your question,
Yes, God works the same way now that he did in the book of Acts.
Good, Then you can show me where multitudes can go to a faith healer or a person such as yourself, and you can guarantee them to be healed, whether or not they have "faith" to be healed. That is what happened in the New Testament.
As soon as He tells me where He is going to heal every body, I will let you know and we will both go.
We both know that he will never tell you when and where you can heal the multitudes because we know that he doesn't work that way anymore. The gift of healing has ceased. Healing has not ceased, but the gift has. Please learn to differentiate between the two.
In the meantime, he will heal who He wants, where He wants and when He wants.(which is how He's always done it anyway)
I've got no argument there. God has never stopped healing. But his methods change. He no longer gives the GIFT of healing to his children. No longer can multitudes come forward, and can ALL expect to be healed. It is cruel to tell such people that they will, because those that do such things are speaking a lie.
They don't get healed because the gift has passed. If one had the power (through God) to heal all; the all would be healed. But that gift has passed, just as the other spiritual gifts have ceased.
Hi all, just read through the posts and the one thing that stands out is a lack of understanding of what a spiritual gift is and how they works. I believe that God gave me this example to share, over the weekend. Anyway, A spiritual gift is a GIFT, as I have said, given fully from one to another. It is no longer the posession of the giver, it belongs to the person to whom the gift was given. Now, the example of how it works is this: Lets say your lawn is very long and you have no way to cut it and no money to but anything to help. Now I GIVE you a lawn mower and a lifetime supply of gas, oil, and spark plugs. A gift from me to you. At that point YOU will decide when and if you cut the lawn. The power (gas, etc...) comes with the gift. I then have provided you the tools and the power to mow the lawn. You have the choice when to use the lawn mower, though I provided the lawn mower and power for you. Now in regards to Healing/miracles, read below.
KJV (ACTS) [6] Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
[7] And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ancle bones received strength.
KJV (ACTS) [8] And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.
KJV [9] And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
[10] And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.
NASB 20:10And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Make ye no ado; for his life is in him.
Peter and Paul could heal and raise the dead when they chose and for the purpose of spreading the gospel in the early church. The healing/miracle gifts gave their message authority. OK, please address my example directly when responding to this post. Thanks much!!
Brian
DHK, you said: 2 John 1:9-11 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
I agree wholeheartedly with the scripture you posted.
However, there is one more that we need to add to that list, and that is:
Matt-15-12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 These are the things which defile a man:
So we all need to watch and be diligent in these last days, that we don't buy into the wrong thing.
Brian,
That is a wonderful example with using a lawn mower and gas. I understand mechanics....but here is another problem that some christians have with lawn mowers. They don't realize that the gas (God) will make the lawn mower (gift) work, but they keep pulling on the rope with out putting the gas in. Some people seem to want to do things in their own steam instead they can put God in the mix and it works alot better. Not saying that we ain't going to hafta pull on a few ropes cause it takes a an action sometimes to move God. i.e. prayer, faith, trust, humbling ourselfs, seeking Him, crying out....ect.
I don't know if that makes any since about the rope pulling thing?
When Jesus was talking about the vine and the branches (John 15:7) he said, If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
M4H, I do understand where you are coming from. Thanks for accepting my example, even if you did twist it a little. In some ways I wonder if your revised part of my lawn mower thing is more like how God heals now and mine is how the gift of Healing was in the early church. Here is the thing. Which example, mine or yours best represents how other gifts are used today? Gifts like Preaching, Helps, and Administrations. The answer may be how we should look at the initial gifts of healing and miracles.
In Love and Truth,
Brian
