the reason that you called upon jesus to be saved by him was that he died for you, and the father drew you to him, and the Spirit enabled you to receive him!
The reason that I called upon Jesus to be saved by him was the gospel was preached to me and I was drawn by the Father and convicted by the Spirit that it was truth (which is what happens to all who hear the gospel), and I decided to do as the gospel asked me to do ( not all obey ) and called upon Jesus Christ to save me at which time He gave me the Holy Spirit promise and sealed me unto the day of redemption. We find this laid out in John 4.
