I think this also applies to women "Sunday school" teachers. How do you handle this in your churches?
Enforce it? Ignore it? Try to explain it away using the cultural argument?
Think women permitted to teach as long as not in spiritual authority, such as being in areas of a Pastor or Elders!I think this also applies to women "Sunday school" teachers.
I agree. They are to teach only other women and kids.I think this also applies to women "Sunday school" teachers.
That is not what the passage plainly says!Think women permitted to teach as long as not in spiritual authority, such as being in areas of a Pastor or Elders!
They are not to be in spiritual authority positions in local church, but can still teach! That is not what the passage plainly says!
Why do we baptists allow missionaries who are women to be able to teach and lead in the field though? Why does the Baptist Church ignore this passage? It seems quite plain. Women are not to teach men, have authority over men, or even speak regarding teaching or administrative matters of the church.
Why is it ignored?
The best answer I have ever gotten was "Criswells wife taught a Sunday school class with men in it ". I guess Criswell is now our source for doctrine?
They can not teach men at all. They are not to be in spiritual authority positions in local church, but can still teach!
PragmatismWhy do we baptists allow missionaries who are women to be able to teach and lead in the field though?
So cannot teach boys and girls in a sunday school setting? They can not teach men at all.
I already said they areallowed to do that.So cannot teach boys and girls in a sunday school setting?
So they can teach sunday schools, and other women, just not mixed couples, correct? For most churches, that would mean not getting to use the pulpit!I already said they areallowed to do that.
Seems to be in line with what Paul said until your last sentence. So they can teach sunday schools, and other women, just not mixed couples, correct? For most churches, that would mean not getting to use the pulpit!
Thought that we agree that women are not to be allowed to teach as the pastors, from the pu;pit!Seems to be in line with what Paul said until your last sentence.
I guess they could teach a Sunday school class of all women that met in the sanctuary. Definitely can't be pastor.Thought that we agree that women are not to be allowed to teach as the pastors, from the pu;pit!
I agree no woman can be called as a Pastor or Elder!I guess they could teach a Sunday school class of all women that met in the sanctuary. Definitely can't be pastor.
It’s not a problem in my churchWhy does the Baptist Church ignore this passage? It seems quite plain. Women are not to teach men, have authority over men, or even speak regarding teaching or administrative matters of the church.
Why is it ignored?
