So...some Christians are given the gift of faith, but not others? Strange teaching since Ephesians 2:8-9 says otherwise.

Eph 2:8,9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
The pronoun "it" isn't speaking of faith. If so, we must render Paul's statement as follows:
For [faith] is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, [faith] is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
The pronoun "it" refers to the context: "4...God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive in Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved."
The "it" refers to God's work in Christ. Otherwise "faith" becomes the Savior instead of Christ.
