The author never clarified anything. He as usual drops his trash and walks away. We have stated as nauseum it's not about Nazi's it's about the misleading meme that of course demonizes black people and pretends like the Nazis are not a thing that is being countered right now. It's really not hard.
He clarified by affirming (via rating) that the OP was never about Nazis but about the underlying controversy (plus I clarified with him because that's what you do, as Christians, instead of just attacking another on false grounds). Not everyone holds your Nazi fixation.

Which goes back to....did you ask for clarification or did you just assume? The answer is you assumed and now will continue to throw dust because your assumption proved false. Mine wont because I know how people like you operate (the dust throwing). You can't deal with the actual topic of the OP so you hijack it.

Or you can prove me wrong by not continuing. I don't care either way. In fact, I'd just soon be proven wrong by your silence than have to read you slander another brother.

Baptist Board has really made bottom with this thread.

My own opinion. Anyone who self-identifies as a Nazi or Neo-Nazi can be considered just as good as one.

(Now back to the shadows for me...)
It wasn't the thread itself (there is an interesting principle in the underlying controversy that should be, IMHO, discussed....by those who care...i.e., not me) but a few who took it over. But you are right about the Nazi part.

One true evil (among others) that this race riot in Charlottesvile has caused - is to drive us further apart.

After reading through this and other associate threads:
In my history here at the BB (16 years) I don't remember venom that was spewed equal to that of this controversy.

Stating the facts is one thing but low grade insults against one another.
Of a political posting blog it would be understandable.

But Christians?

James 3
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

Addendum: Are we the victims of the old "divide and conquer" ploy? I think so.
But the question remains - Who is the drivers seat komrades?

I think the difference here is that it was a hate group involved (we've had similar arguments but it involved the police actions rather than white supremacists). Because of the event, if a thread is opened to discuss the validity of erasing traces of the Confederacy from our culture it will be taken as in support of white supremacists.

The fact still remains, however, that this thread is not about the white supremacists.

Actually I think the Neo-Nazi's are worse. In these modern times we know that the racial stereotypes are nonsense. They are without excuse.

His meme, not mine mentioned black people fighting Nazis who weren't Nazis. He brought that up. No one else.

Are you honestly going to sit there and tell me that Nazis have no part of this underlying controversy especially after this past weekend? You can get mad because you want everyone to ignore that part of his meme. I'm not giving it a pass. Everything else is you not comprehending what is being said.

Of course because the thread pretends it's not a factor.

The problem with your defense is that the Nazi image had already been applied to the underlying controversy of removing Confederate images from public space, and also specifically to Donald Trump, long before the incident at Charlottesville. You are assuming the thread was about Nazi's because it mentioned the word and, as I predicted, will continue to falsely accuse other people.

So you believe that everyone who opposes the removal of Confederate images from the public are doing so because they are Nazis. Personally, I believe that these things should be removed if the majority of the state finds them offensive and votes for them to be removed (I'm a "states rights" guy). But at the same time, I don't really care if they stay or go, but that's not the point.

The point is that you have categorized Christians as being white supremacists without even taking the time to discover why they don't want these things removed from the public sector. I'm sure some are racists. But I know at least a dozen who want to keep them because they love American history. I know more who want to keep them simply out of tradition. Just because your accusations would be true if applied to some people doesn't excuse your false accusations towards others.

The OP concerns the removal of Confederate statues and the long standing leftist opinion that anyone who does not support such a philosophy of removing anything that seems to them offensive is a Nazi. I take it this is your position as well.

I am interested to see your reaction when you come to the realization that most of the left (and probably much of the right as well) finds the gospel just as offensive, if not more so, than a Confederate statue.

Will you don your arm band when the time comes? Or have you already?

BTW, this reminds me of a Floyd song - Pigs (probably because I went to the Waters concert this past weekend....which should earn me some points with CTB....where's CTB...:Laugh ). Anyway, if you are familiar with the song, there are "three different ones". But they are still pigs.
Then you misunderstand my position: 1. Nazis were at Charlottesville (contrary to the ridiculous assertions of the OPer). 2. Those who do not oppose such individuals are effectively aiding them, including those weaselling out by saying "oh but the other side were just as bad". 3. All good people and certainly all self-professed Christians should be opposed to the Nazis.

I trust the above is not difficult to comprehend.

What thread are you in right now? The OP is about defending Trump. The OP is about non-slave blacks fighting non-Nazi whites over the removal of confederate statues and how that the violence is not Trump's fault. Honestly, UoT has already admonished you to re-read the OP. I suggest you try it one more time.

The problem is that actual Nazis were at Charlottesville. Attempts to deny this are risible and pathetic

Sure and I love German history. But I don't want statues of Hitler or even Rommel erected to tell me about it.

Never said otherwise. I said there is an underlying controversy which is the true topic of the thread instead of Nazis

So, as so many of you support the removal of monuments of men who owned slaves (Lee didn't but that is another discussion) how many of you would support the tearing down of the Washington Monument and the Jefferson Memorial. Both were slave owners.
