Imputed Righteousness

I did not see where you agreed with this statement, "we do not become the righteousness of God by imputation." Nuff said...

I can see and agree to a point with what you say, but not completely.

Just as our sins are imputed in Christ, His righteousness is imputed in us by Grace through faith.

But I do agree with the washing of regeneration as I see it happening the very second we believe.

The circumcision of Christ as you mentioned earlier.

You're not a programmed robot that Christ controls, Ken.

I am so very, very thankful that God does control me , that I am on His leash, so to speak. The depths of my sins are filthy and awful as a fallen son of Adam. I shudder to think of what I might do if God did not control me.

He allows you to live your life the way you choose

I am so very, very thankful that God does not allow anything to happen outside of His absolute, total sovereignty.

In and of myself I was a dirty, filthy sinner before I was regenerated, and in and of myself I am still a dirty, filthy sinner.

Isaiah 64:6
We are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.

Romans 7:18
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing.

Romans 7:24-25
O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Conditions

Rom. 10:13 is still in my Bible.

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

And so is this!

Rom. 10:14

"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?"

It's the hearing of the Gospel that breaks the barrier of depravity for man to have the opportunity to be saved.

There's no such thing as being saved before you were born.

We must hear the Gospel, believe the Gospel, calling on the Lord with a pure heart of faith in His Word.

I only said, yes Lord I believe.

And we should all praise the Lord for that. However, what you fail to recognize is that you think you had the ability to exercise that faith all on your own. If God is the one granting you with the ability to have faith and to persevere in it, then all the glory belongs to Him. If not, then you have reason to boast. Do you see the issue?

So it's a good thing you do not have to have perfect faith, or perfectly love God, or perfectly love your neighbor.

To be saved one must be perfect, as perfect as God. That is why God's elect are clothed with the perfect righteousness of Christ imputed, charged, credited to them.

No one will be saved by standing before God in anything less than perfection. God will not accept anything less than perfection - not imperfect faith, not imperfect love, etc.

The actions of Israelites and how God dealt with them are examples for Christians nowadays.

1 Corinthians 10:11
Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Malachi 1:7-8
Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee?
In that ye say, The table of the LORD is contemptible.
And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.

God did not accept polluted sacrifices from the ancient Israelites. To think that one can stand before God at the end of time and offer impure faith, impure love, etc., and expect God to accept such, is to be doomed forever.

As the old hymn puts it:

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
O may I then in Him be found:
dressed in His righteousness alone,
faultless to stand before the throne.

(emphasis mine)

The faultlessness is found in Christ's righteousness alone, not in me or anything I think, do, or say; whether it be faith, love, whatever.

I believe that Christ meant it when He said:

The ability to believe comes with the message of the Gospel, all of His doing.

But I do have the free will to accept or reject that message.

That's why the Scripture says, " behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation."

In other words, don't put it off, don't reject it, you are not promised another day in this life.

I don’t know about you, but when I go to bed, I’m worried about some arbitrary condition preventing the sun from rising the next morning.

Now you are trying to cover your tracks Tea. What you worry about has no impact on what you wrote Tea.

When you used "IF" in your sentence it became a conditional sentence Tea.
If you do not understand that what you wrote was a conditional sentence that may just explain why you have trouble with the biblical text.

"If" you jump off a bridge into the water then you will get wet. We know that when you jump into the water you will get wet, that is a fact. But the condition is "IF" you actually jump.

Just as we know factually that the sun will rise in the morning, all things being equal. But God could decide to end everything overnight and thus no sun will rise in the morning as there would be no morning.

So as I said when you add "IF"to the sentence then make it conditional whether you like it or not.

Well I can say without any fear of contradiction, that you are not perfect @KenH. Pride is a sin and you exhibit that in your posts.

So by your standard you will be rejected when you stand before God at the judgement.

Whatever you consider a condition to do

The condition for salvation is that you must believe from the heart.

Rom. 10:9-10

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

In and of myself, that is absolutely 100% true.

So by your standard you will be rejected when you stand before God at the judgement.

I don't have a standard. God has a standard - perfect righteousness.

And I am perfectly righteous in Christ. All of my sins were imputed, charged, credited to Christ and He paid my total sin debt. Therefore, God does not impute sin to me. Christ's perfect righteousness has been imputed, charged, credited to me. And Christ never fails to save those whom God chose and gave to Him to be Surety, before the world began. The Christ of the Bible never fails, regardless of the claims by many self-proclaimed "Christians" that He does.

Salvation is quite clearly explained in the Bible:

2 Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

John 6:37-39
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

John 10:14-15
I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

2 Timothy 1:12
For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

And what have I committed to Christ? My whole salvation.

And why have I committed my whole salvation to Christ? Because "Thy people shall be willing in the day of Thy power." (Psalm 110:3)

Thus, the Holy Spirit regenerated me under the hearing of the gospel of the finished work of Christ, and He made me willing to believe in Christ and willing to repent from dead works.

If we don't make it to be with Him we have no one to blame but ourselves for not following His instructions.

Ken you are almost right but that also means you are wrong. God does not make you believe or make you willing.

Why do you need to commit your salvation to Christ as according to the calvinist view you were saved B4 creation. Even the repentance and faith you claim is not your own as it had to be done for you or given to you.

If what you say was a true view than it would be God that is responsible for all those that do not repent or believe, He could have made them repent and believe but did not and man could not do so on their own.

If we look at the words of Pas 110:3 as if they apply to you Ken we have two options
1] you are a Jew {the people of Jesus Christ}
2] you are already saved {you are already in Christ through faith}

This verse does not point to the irresistible operation of the grace of God on the souls of the "elect", thereby making them willing to receive Christ as their Savior.

It is about how the saints will willing worship Him in heaven and on the earth when He rules in power.
