I haven't twisted any words, HoG. I have accepted what is in scripture. You, on the other hand, need a two page "explanation" of what scripture really meant to say, complete with paraphrases & suppositions.

Like dan E said, perhaps it isn't so clear.

I think whats more harmful than drinking the alcohol is the arrogance and ugliness on this thread. Some of you folks ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

Col 4:6
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

I Peter 3:15-16
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.

I believe you twisted the original.

I don't smoke and I don't chew;
And I don't go with girls that do!

Curtis,

And you also are trying to twist my name into Hope of Glory. I, sir, am not HoG.

Well, there you are correct, I don't quite know how I made that mistake, but I do apologize for it, and hope you accept it.

But I stand by all the other statements.

I stated before, my KJV study bible translates "vinegar" as sour wine.

Do you accept my apology for getting your name wrong ?

I accept your apology for getting my name wrong. However, I cannot accept your turning my Lord and Savior into that which He is not.

And if it is a KJV study Bible, it should tell you He refused to drink the vinegar

as to the OP, if it doesnt honor Christ, then it shouldnt be done, but that could go for just about everything, including arrogance. ;)

Of course he refused the vinegar. They were mocking Him. It wasnt because it was fermented.

And I'm not concerned with what you think of me. i am concerned with what the word of God says.....

John chapter 19;28 -30.
28

After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
29

Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.
30

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

I appreciate you trying to keep us calm, TT.

But did he refuse it, or did he recieve it ?

Matthew records that Jesus only tasted the vinegar. and He refused to drink it. Since the Bible does not contradict itself, Jesus did not drink it when He received it, He only tasted it.

OK, so it's a sin to look at it, but not taste it ?

Why would the pharisees call Jesus a winebibber if he didn't drink wine?

They were accusing Him falsely, Billy. Look at His answer to them...

"But wisdom is justified of her children"

They first accused John the Baptist, then the accusations were toward Jesus, then He Himself refuted what they accused Him of.
