Quote:
His Spirit will not allow me to intentionally sin.
Do I sin? Sure, everyone does.
It's not often I see somebody contradict themselves from one sentence to the next
No contradiction there CC. I did not say I intentionally sin. Try again.
You say you believe that a Christian can't lose their salvation, but then you say that unconfessed sin at your death can't/won't be covered by the blood of Christ. How, exactly, is the latter consistent with the former?
It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that if one intentionally sins and dies in that sin, then that one did not know Christ in the first place.
Many will Matthew 7:22-23 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Many will have walked doing many wonderful works claiming to have been saved and still lost. Jesus did not say, 'I knew you once, but you slipped up,' or 'I walked on one side of you and the devil on the other,' but 'I never knew you.'
John the Baptist taught repentance Mark chapter 1. Jesus taught that if one did not repent, he would likewise perish. Jesus also taught Repentance in Revelation 2 or He would come and fight against them with the sword of His mouth.
Can a lifetime of love and devotion to God be wiped out because of unconfessed sin? Certainly. Paul said, 'Ye cannot drink from the cup of the Lord and the cup of devils.' James wrote, 'Whosoever therefore is a friend of the world is an enemy of God.' One unconfessed sin can keep a person from entering heaven. If one claims to be a Christian and never gives up a certain sin, let's say for the sake of an argument, the sin of adultery.
A man who sleeps around goes to church and hears a message preached on hell and is scared. He goes forward and makes a profession of faith. The next day, he is with his mistress, leaving his wife at home with the children. He goes through life acting pious in front of the community and the church, becomes a deacon or even the pastor of that church, yet still sees that same woman all along, or possibly another or more than one.
Now this man made a profession of faith and the only sin that he has against him is that sin of adultery. He will still die in that sin and go to hell.
When a man is saved, the Word of God teaches us that we take on a new nature, we do not want to sin. We want to do that which is pleasing to the Lord. We take on a new nature, new creatures in Christ Jesus. We no longer have the want to do that which is contrary to the walk in Christ.
