Balderdash! It is what in a persons mind, what they are thinking, that denotes what they are doing. I look at a painting of Christ and I worship Christ, God Incarnate - I DO NOT worship the painting - UNDERSTAND?

I can venerate Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ. She is due respect, she is FOREVER BLESSED - I DO NOT worship her as I worship Jesus Christ. I do not VENERATE him, I WORSHIP him. Mary the Mother of Jesus Christ is not to be worshipped SHE IS NOT GOD - UNDERSTAND?

Where in the Bible does it say that Mary should be worshipped, which is what 'venerate' is, or that she takes the place of Jesus as our mediator, it does not. Need to go by Gods Word, not a churches declaration or tradtion.

She was HIGHLY FAVORED and would be FOREVER KNOWN AS BLESSED. It is okay to venerate her, but not to worship her.

The orthodox churches, both the Eastern and Western branches, with the authority granted to them by Jesus Christ under the "bind and loose" doctrine have said this is just fine. You see, we are not an apostate Johnny- come- lately church like the one you are a part of, our church comes directly from the Incarnate God, Jesus Christ with authority to act in religious matters.

Well, I hate to tell you, but in all the churches in the latin countries and I would say Italy too, they "worship" the idol of Mary. I went to Italy a few months back and they were doing the same thing as in Cuba which I also visited and the other islands from the Caribbean I would add and Central America which I have witness personally. My family has Catholic roots so I get much input on the "worship" given to Mary on that side...

What do you mean "worship"? Do they think she is God? Do they think the statue of her is God? If that is the case then they have strayed from Catholic teaching.

Well, this was the way it was from the start if you read history, only the Catholics in the US have I seen just give a nod or 'lip service' to the idol of Mary, but not down here in 'Calle Ocho'....

What Christian sect are you a member of? I don't remember you telling us before.
FYI for my noncatholic friends...Rome does not consider any other denomination to be a part of the Church. So they call them sects.

You do still ask her to intercede on behalf of sinners, right?

Don;t they consider Greek Orthodox and Lutherans as being splinter churches, like branches off their trunk?

Of course, it is the teaching of orthodox Christianity that the Blessed Mother can pray for us. We believe that is possible as do our Eastern Orthodox brothers.

I would much prefer to have the High priest Jesus the Lord do that for me!

Good! Never ask anyone to pray for you about anything then. Just you and Jesus! You don't need ANYONE to intercede/mediate for you but Jesus

Jesus prays for me in Heaven, and those alive here on earth as in the flesh pray for me also!

We are specifically told to pray for each other this side of heaven. I haven’t seen scriptural evidence to pray to saints that have gone to heaven to intercede for us, but rather to go directly to God, our Lord Jesus.

peace to you

Amen, as Bible states Jesus as High Priest and those living here on Earth are to be praying!

'john describes the heavenly worship in these terms: “The twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and with golden bowls of incense, which are the prayers of the saints” (Rev. 5:8). The angels also play a role in bringing our prayers to God: “The smoke of the incense rose with the prayers of the saints from the hand of the angel before God” (Rev. 8:4). If intercession among members of the body of Christ on earth is “good and it is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior” (1 Tim. 2:1–4), how would such behavior not also be pleasing to God in heaven?'

Straw man alert.

---> Where in the Bible does it say that Protestants should sacrifice their babies to Baal?

The presence of the bishop with valid Apostolic succession is essential to define the Church itself. There is no Church if there is no valid bishop presiding over her.
