That is opinion and I will defend your right to your opinion. But it is not proof. Using proof texts is dangerous. I was talking to a Scottish pastor last week. He said he will not allow anyone in conversation with him to use proof texts. He also said that Americans use proof texts much more than other Christians. It seems to be a cultural thing with us. But it is dangerous and has led to all kinds of problems. When we start slicing up the Bible to prove our own beliefs we often fall into error. Why? Because we are slicing up the message of God and not taking his message as a whole.
Is a person voting with the union any worse than a person voting the way their pastors thinks they should vote? What is the pastor is wrong?
Well let's see no proof text you say. So when we tell someone that God's word says you must call upon the name of the Lord we can't back that up with proof text. So how do you show them what God's word says about believing on the Lord Jesus for salvation. Without proof text it is just your opinion and nothing else. The Holy Spirit uses scripture to show God's way if what you say is true we have no need for the bible because it is used as proof text in our sermos too.
