" And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
10 the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
11 and the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. " ( Revelation 14:9-11 )
As it stands, I'm not sure what you see, but if His saints are with Him and in His presence,
then according to this, they will indeed see people in torment the Lake of Fire.
But I see no reason to think that we, as His saints, will rejoice at their terrible punishment.
Rather, I believe that we will rejoice at our being saved from it.
Two points.
The text says "in the presence of his holy angels and the Lamb."
Second, Gerstner said he thought the saints would rejoice in the justness of God, not in the suffering of the godless.
This is where sbw seems to misunderstand Gerstner. Also, Gerstner was responding to a speculative question with a speculative answer. As humans we all tend to do this. One can argue that Gerstner should have simply acknowledged that the question itself is speculative, however, since I don't have the entire transcript, it seems he just answered extemporaneously.
