For some reason my current girl-friend does not like or gravitate towards John MacArthur's books. She loves Jerry Bridges & David Jeremiah (two excellent authors). Perhaps its the style of writing, the lack of as much application, or the Lordship of Christ theme that turns her off.
She comes from a IFB background and no question the Lordship doctrine is not emphasized among Dispensationalist churches. Bridges & Jeremiah do not appear to hold to the degree of Lordship that MacArthur preaches. The good thing about her is that she does strive towards holiness and separation, and unlike the last one, with her we both are walking in wisdom, and will not be alone in a house or room together, which is walking in wisdom so that the flesh does not jump out and the devil does not use it to lead me into sin.
