And yet Jesus Himself preached repentance. So again I ask how can one preach the cross and not deal with sin? When we preach the cross to anyone prior to salvation it is necessary to deal with the fact that we are sinners and that must change. Anyone who says I admit I am a sinner, I want God's salvation but have no intention of changing my life is nothing more than the rich young ruler.

The work of the Holy spirt Himself grants us godly repentence and faith in jesus, so all who are saved will have that desire in them , as we have now the new natures/Holy Spirit indwelling us!

We cannot clean up ourselves and come to jesus, as its His bllod that cleanses us from all sins!

We cannot clean up ourselves and come to jesus, as its His bllod that cleanses us from all sins!

First, you do not have a basic understanding of the use of the phrase "His blood cleanses us from all sin".

That phrase is used to refer to the righteous standing we have as Christians.

Second, I said nothing about cleaning ourselves up and the coming to Jesus. I do not appreciate you trying to misrepresent what I said.

The blood of jesus secures our salvation, as he paid our sin debt to the father in full, so we can get justified before God, and His bllod keeps on cleansing us in a sauctificational sense after being saved!

And i am not saying those views are what YOU are posting, but they do seem to be those of the chief advicates of this theology!

Lordship Salvation is an overreaction to 'easy believism'.

There's been many such overreactions within the history of Christendom. My own denomination included.

If one were to filter through all the mumbo-jumbo, would it be safe to say that Lordship Salvation basically can be defined as acting like a Christian after salvation?

It is taking all the verses that teach discipleship, such as,

"Whosoever forsakes not all that he has cannot be my disciple,"

and trying to make them applicable to the new believer at the time of salvation--something impossible for a new believer to do.

For example, what new believer is going to forsake all that he has and be a foreign missionary (or something similar) as he follows Jesus. Immediate and full sanctification is required without any room for growth.

The last sentence is just a misrepresentation. However, the disciples did exactly what you have suggested here. Also you misrepresent "forsaking all". Usually this occurs when lesser reasonable arguments do not make the case trying to be made.

So the idea is that a babe in Christ should be matured, and have a walk as a mature Christian, immediately after salvation?

I am simply trying to get a basic sense of what it is.

You will NEVER get that in a thousand years. Folks who preach Lordship Salvation can never explain it.

All they know is that they are doing enough to be saved, and you aren't.

Laugh, but you will find out what I just said is true.

Yes, if He is not LORD of ALL then He is NOT Lord AT ALL.

That is why one must be able to forsake all...
or, hate not his father, mother, brother, sister, cannot be my disciple...
or, deny himself, take up his cross daily...

And the many others that apply to discipleship.

A new believer must have time to grow. Sanctification is a process. We all grow at different rates.

The teaching coming from people like Washer, would use Andrew, Simon, James and John and then Levi.
When Jesus called them to follow him, they immediately left all and followed Christ.

Is it right to use those as our standard for salvation in following Christ?
Must one leave all in order to follow Christ?
If so, why haven't the majority on this board done it?

Okay...If that is the case, how close to the edge of a 'works salvation' is the teaching?
