Mark Driscoll attempts to Crash Strange Fire

Mac is about as close to our position (my personal, my church) as anyone. I appreciate his bold condemnation of the cult of charasmania, in his books and now in this conference.

Mine too, although we are not dispensational. I look forward to hearing those CD's as well. The fact that the conference has gotten so much fire (pun intended) likely means there is much to be learned.

Exactly. Those in error hate what they call the 'ugliness' of exposing error. Nonetheless charismatic theology is heresy. Osteen preaches a false Gospel. So does Jerry Savelle, Joyce Myer, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland -- I might as well throw in June Hunts nonsense of 'you are so special God sent His Son to die for you' error. As Christ, Paul, Peter, the prophets &c stood fiercely against error, and would be called 'ugly' for doing so, today we see the same crowd doing the same things but this time it is done 'electronically' on BB. :wavey:

Yet, thankfully some here still expose the errors of these false teachers no matter what the dissident crowd says.

Please allow me to set up your soap box for you. Perhaps such expressions makes you feel better about yourself.

We are purchasing the cd's of the conference for our church listening library. Amazing cooperation between a wide spectrum of evangelicals brought together in this conference to damn the 'strange fire' that is so harmful to the work of God.

Reminds me of the "old" days of early fundamentalism. Baptists, Methodist, Presbyterians all joined together on basic truth to combat the rising evil of liberalism, modernism and godless evolution. Secondary issues (eschatology, church polity, etc) were laid aside to fight a very real enemy.

Amen Bob well said. I cant wait to get the online videos and audio's to download to my computer. I also anxiously look forward to the book.

I try my best. I am not the only one but I am one of several here that do this. Its not as if I hate Osteen, Andy Stanley and others, its that they are questionable.

Go ahead EWF, don't hold back....tell me how you really feel. I have nothing "against" Mr. Piper.....other than the fact that I don't share his theological postion(s). I am happy and content there are men of his persuasion for those like yourself who feel compelled to a different theological position.

John Piper..... LOL,

Now if you were to say Sinclair Ferguson, Arthur Pink, John Montgomery Boice, Martyn Lloyd-Jones, Spurgeon, Albert Martin, John Preston, Samuel Rutherford, George Whitfield...... now thats only Calvinists. I haven't even touched on Old School Baptists that I revere. You should read some of them..... you might be enlightened.

Also have you ever gone to a Old School or a Sovereign Grace Church?

1. I have far too many other interests on my reading list
2. No, not that I remember, I have not attended an Old School or Sovereign Grace Church. Always attended SBC or Base Chapel until I began to attend Wiregrass (Strategic Partner of North Point Ministries)

Correction:James Montgomery Boice and George Whitefield. I know it sounds like Whitfield. But the fields are white unto harvest as the KJV has it.

I'm sorely tempted to add to your list, but will hold off for now.

John Preston? Whoever reads him anymore? I'm impressed.

The Charismatic movement is a CULTIC movement. period.
my sister, and her cousin, were part of it.
my mom, was part of it.
Although I think the better thing to do is to let God worry and deal with cults, and that JMac and those with him in this strange fire conference would do a better service if they CONCENTRATED on their ministries, their teachings, their preachings and their members and let Jesus, the Chief Shepherd, worry about cultic movements IN or OUT of His peoples' congregations.
He will call out His own from these cultic movements, and bring them to one of His true undershepherds in this plane called time.
