Because he is stupid. If stupidity was a crime, he deserves a life sentence. I honestly would like to see him found guilty of a crime because what he did was so stupid, BUT I do not see a crime. I see a civil suit with a 5 to 7 million dollar payout, but I dont see a crime.
When this first happened, I posted we should give the LEO’s the benefit of the doubt. That is my “default setting” in these kinds of incidents.
When I saw the video, I saw a crime. Whatever else you say about Mr. Floyd and his life, that man was in police custody. The LEOs had a legal obligation to take care of him. They had a legal obligation to cause no harm.
I understand the impulse to stand for law enforcement, because I do it too. But to call this an act of “stupidity” is an attempt, in my opinion, to excuse an act of pure evil.
Those men are not stupid. They had to know that staying on top of Mr. Floyd for 2:45 secs after he was unconscious, unresponsive and with no detectable pulse, would cause great harm, and put his life in jeopardy.
I’ve said all I can, probably more than folks wanted to hear. You said I’m appealing to emotion and maybe I’m too emotional about this incident.
I sincerely appreciate all the comments and the back and forth conversations.
I’ll take a break now.
peace to all
