How many ways can you give a speech on the same topic from almost the same perspective?

Only when called for. It's unfortunate it is called for so often.

"But the cowards, unbelievers, vile, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars--their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death."

Well, of course you have the discernment to know whether or not Michelle Obama was lying when she made her speech in 2008 and to know that Melania Trump wasn't lying. Must be a very useful skill.

So has any one even considered that now CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC and ALL their affiliates have broadcast and introduced Mrs.Trump to millions more viewers (Probably worth millions in broadcast time) than had they been silent about the alleged "plagiarism" because they took the bait one more time that Trump cast to them - then reeled them in "hook line and sinker"?

He and Melania have now been broadcast over EVERY news media everywhere in the world.

    Will they never learn.

Also Hillary is now telling the world how "dangerous" a man Donald Trump is - OBTW she and Bill went to his wedding ceremony (and whooped it up with them) and were socially involved with the Trumps until the primary campaigns.

Hmm, not a wise move Mrs Clinton (and more free advertising by the "progressive" press).

The example I'm thinking of is the Memorial Day Speech. How many ways are there to commemorate the fallen and honor the living? As MDS's have been given for close to a hundred and fifty years, there's bound to have been some overlap and repetition.

Obama stole an entire speech from Deval Patrick in 2008. And he is considered to be a master speaker. Didn't seem to hurt him at all. LINK

At least Melania is a newbie making newbie mistakes.

Also, no one is really blaming Melania, they are blaming her speech writers.
So once again, a huge raft of free advertising from the news media.

Manafort unleashed a scathing rebuke to those suggesting that Melania Trump’s speech was “plagiarized.” As reported by the Daily Caller:

“Well, there’s no cribbing of Michelle Obama’s speech. These were common words and values that she cares about her family and things like that. I mean, she was speaking in front of 35 million people last night, she knew that. To think that she would be cribbing Michelle Obama’s words is crazy. I mean, it’s so — I mean, this is, once again, an example of when a woman threatens Hillary Clinton, how she seeks out to demean her and take her down. It’s not going to work.”

Alright, so now Hillary Clinton has been brought into this. Adding to the oddity of the story, it appears that the phrases in Melania Trump’s speech that are in question were not only lifted from Michelle Obama’s current head speechwriter, but the woman who was also Hillary Clinton’s speechwriter before she left the campaign trail in ’08.’

How do you know when MLK Jr. was plagiarizing someone? When he was giving a speech or writing a paper.

Does anyone really think Obama and Hillary write the speeches they give?

Neither of these questions have anything to do with the thread.

    Ironic, isn't it?

Joe Biden was driven to withdraw from the 1988 Presidential race because of charges of plaigerism.

Democratic presidential candidate Joseph R. Biden Jr., a U.S. senator from Delaware, was driven from the nomination battle after delivering, without attribution, passages from a speech by British Labor party leader Neil Kinnock. A barrage of subsidiary revelations by the press also contributed to Biden's withdrawal: a serious plagiarism incident involving Biden during his law school years; the senator's boastful exaggerations of his academic record at a New Hampshire campaign event; and the discovery of other quotations in Biden's speeches pilfered from past Democratic politicians.

Yes, because when you are part of a Presidential campaign, one that has bragged surrounds itself with only the very best people, this is acceptable. Sheesh, really?

Is it acceptable? its not what you are making it out to be but no its not. However, there is no real proof here that there has been any such thing. In fact I have used very similar words myself. I have never plagiarized anyone.

Hmmm....you may be on to something.

Perhaps the plagiarism was deliberate to draw the media attention away from the ridiculous maneuver to deny a roll call vote on the rules amendment. Instead of the media running stories about how the chair of the rules committee broke GOP written rules and called for a voice vote rather than a roll call vote, with subsequent voice votes no where close to carrying the vote but declared so by the chairman, we get the plagiarism story all day long.

So are folks trying to excuse her plagiarism because her husband is running for President? Politics has created a whole bunch of foolish people.

It's stuff like this that makes folks wonder if Trump is working with the Clintons. Who is possibly this dumb that they would plagiarize the current First Lady's speech?

And speaking of dumb, how do you insult the governor of the state that is hosting your convention? Shouldn't they be trying to win over the swing voters of Ohio?

Just another thing that makes him look like he's trying to let Hillary win.
