White long sleeve dress shirt (starched with real starch, not the stuff in the can and yes; I starch and iron it myself)
Dark Dress pants
Black leather belt
conservative Tie (striped or regimental)
Black lace up dress shoes (highly polished!)
Black socks
Watch
underclothes of course (including an undershirt, an article of clothing I've noticed some men never wear)
The church I attended previously had gone so casual that the only men who wore a shirt and tie or a suit were either the pastors, ushers or sometimes the Sunday school teachers. Very few of the men outside of this subgroup wore even a tie, much less a suit.
If I wore a tie in my (adult) Sunday school class, I got comments such as 'What are you all dressed up for"?
I shouldn't have to justify putting on a tie for Sunday morning services if I wish.
At my present church, not all men wear shirts and ties or suits Sunday morning, but at least I'm not treated as "odd man out".
