This is to clarify my position as a Baptist with beliefs stemming from The 1689 London Baptist confession. It is an attempt to be recognized as such and not be removed from that classification.

Infant Baptism, view on sacraments?
Calvin had more loose screws than most even know about, baptism and sacraments being the least. I was baptized by immersion in water in the Name of Jesus Christ (the correct manner) after the Acts model as a trinitarian believer. most baptists get this wrong.

Dave, I certainly have pronounced differences with many non-Calvinistic and Dispensational Baptists, but in all my years of being a Baptist I can attest that the great majority of conservative Baptist churches baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit (i.e. Trinitarian). How do you think most conservative Baptist churches get this wrong?

The Catholics changed it when the trinitarian issues began emerging. But the early Church always baptized believers by immersion in water in the Name of Jesus Christ. Acts proves this. Jesus Christ is the name of the Trinity as depicted in the Ecumenical Creeds.

Water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ by dipping in, under and out of the water represents Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection. Which is essentially the gospel message. So we baptize in the name of him who died and lives for us. Having ourselves publicly and symbolically identified with his name and the gospel message. Exactly as the disciples did throughout the book of Acts.

Only believers should receive baptism since Philip underscored the need of believing with the heart before he would baptize the eunuch.

Baptism does not save a person because Simon the sorcerer received baptism and remained lost.

"Baptism" of infants is not biblical. And is more akin to the Evangelicals who hold "baby dedication services".

Baptism of believers in Jesus' name by pouring or even sprinkling doesn't symbolize the gospel message. But might be OK when enough water is not available or conditions do not allow.

Does baptism in Jesus’ name contradict Jesus’ command to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost? No, because Jesus Christ is the name of YHWH the triune God.

We are baptized in name of the father, Jesus and Holy Spirit as per Great Commission!

“Then Peter said unto them, ‘Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Acts 2:38 (NCPB)

“(for as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus).” Acts 8:16 (NCPB)

And, just what sort of group were you involved with anyway, when you were baptized?

“(for as yeu see this in same way the Jesus Only Oneness do?t he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus).” Acts 8:16 (NCPB)
So you see this in same way Jesus Only Oneness do?

Are you suggesting that a baby dedication is unnecessary, wrong, unBiblical or something similar?
And while we are at it - Are Baptists wrong when the dedicate a new structure for use as a church building.

I think it is unnecessary. God's elect will come to Christ regardless of your ceremonies. The church is not a building, a work of the flesh, and cursed. That is a tornado magnet.
