cc, wouldn't be human if didn't have a thing for Freema (...stupid 10)

"Time Crash" is on YouTube a few times now, grab it before BBC does. Wouldn't be missing much though. Steven Moffat, how could you?! :BangHead::tonofbricks::eek: :(

Indeed. Given what Moffat has come up with in the past, I was disappointed; it was an even weaker version of The Five Doctors.

I think I'm in agreement that "Time Crash" was rubbish.

I have this question that I asked on the Skiffy forum, but nobody gave me a satisfactory answer.

5 asked 10 if he was a part of L.I.N.D.A. How does 5 know about L.I.N.D.A.?

The "You were my doctor" line caused my eyes to roll right out of my head. I hope it doesn't signal a turn for the worse for S4.

Yeah, I thought the reference to LINDA was a glaring continuity error too. But don't forget, it was for charity and therefore just 'a bit of fun' I suppose (although Moffat is on record as saying the clip was canonical).

I've been working on an explanation for Time Crash: David Tennant really wrote it. He spent 20% of his past, present and future Who earnings to buy the "By" from Moffat, then put 79% of his Who pay to hire the crew to shoot it and rent the TARDIS set...and of course the rest of the money went to bring back 5 (sorry Peter) ;)

I'll gladly count the Children In Need special with 10 and Rose as canon. I'll count The Curse Of Fatal Death canon. I'll even watch Love & Monsters again...one day...maybe...But Time Crash? Nope, sorry

You should watch Love&Monsters again, Pete. The story really is growing on me and not in a fungal kind of way. :)

BTW, have you guys seen this? I've watched it at least once a week or so ever since somebody posted the link on Skiffy. Very cool.

I've got some links for you guys.

By now, I'm sure you guys saw that Verity Lambert passed away last week. Here's a link to the news. I've always wondered what her thoughts were on how big the show has become since coming back in '05. I wonder if she thought it was cool that she was mentioned in Human Nature/Family of Blood.

Whether we like it or not, Rose is coming back. Here's the link to the news. I have serious doubts about whether she'll be the Rose we knew. Time seems to pass quicker in the Age of Steel universe than it does the Whoniverse. I don't have any doubts about RTD and team's ability to make it work.

You can probably get them at several places, but here's a link where you can buy a sonic screwdriver and a laser screwdriver. I'm pathetic enough that I'm seriously considering buying one of each. :)

    This
is page 68 of a story called "The 10 Doctors" at a site called Rich's Comixblog. You'll want to spend the time to read the whole thing from page 1, but it's time well-spent. I was skeptical about it at first, but it's excellent.

Yup, we've lost the first 3 versions of the Doctor, and now his mum :tear:

Rose fanboy or not, bringing her back has me worried....although in 41 episodes so far (yeah, I just counted) of the RTD era I think we've only had one real total absolute shocker (any guesses on which one I'm thinking of? ;)), so it might be safe to watch ;)

Along with Sydney Newman as his dad, who passed away ten years ago. So now the Doctor really is an orphan.

Page 73 of "The 10 Doctors" has been posted.

There's something else about "Time Crash" that bothered me, but I didn't figure it out what it was until last night. 10 says something about trying to be all grumpy and serious in his earlier incarnations until he regenerated into 5. 1 was clearly grumpy and 3 was pretty serious, too, but 2 and 4 were anything but serious until the occasion called for it. So, what's up with dissing 2 and 4 as grumpy old men? Maybe he's referring to their appearance and that 5 looked much younger than any of the others?

I got pointed to this link on Youtube, The Flight of the Darned.

I don't know if you guys saw it or not, but Catherine Tate caused a bit of a storm when she said that she thought DT was going to leave DW at the end of S4. Here's a link to it.

DT has confirmed here that he is doing the 2009 specials, but nothing is set for 2010. He also said that he's doing 4 specials after S4, leading me to believe that there will be a 2008 Christmas special in addition to the already announced 3 specials in 2009. Assuming the BBC greenlights S5 in 2010, and I have no doubt that they will, my guess is that he'll leave the show then.

I just wish DT would get over this "I'm staying....for a while....maybe...." stuff :tonofbricks:

I'm sure you guys have seen this. There's a few things I don't understand here.

#1, where were these people for Gridlock and Last of the Time Lords? The "Doctor as Savior" (or Saviour for you Brits ;) ) theme was much more prominent than in Voyage of the Damned.

#2, what scenes do you think they had a problem with? The angels rising? The scene with Astrid at the end? I don't get what the big deal was over this story.

#3, why is that some Christians get all upset about fiction like Golden Compass, The Davinci Code and Doctor Who, but latch onto a complete piece of trash like Left Behind, aka The Worst Books Ever Written? Of course, this last question may not apply to Christians in the UK, who may have never heard of Left Behind.

    What do you guys think?

Don't forget the Human Nature/Family Of Blood double. That story must have set some sort of record for Gospel parallels in a Who story...might have even been a clearer presentation of the Gospel than some sermons ;)

Got me beat with that one too...I mean ok, while Voyage Of The Damned didn't do much for me as an episode, the only part that struck me as thinking about heading towards the too far line was the Doctor talking about being there for the first Christmas - and getting the last room...

Christian Voice is basically a one-man band - Stephen Green - who claims to speak for evangelicals here but in reality is an embarassment to them most of the time. I looked hard for a 'Messiah' reference and couldn't see one. The 'Host' angels concept were a rip-off of/homage to (depending on your POV) the Robots of Death and I thought the last scene with Astrid was over-mawkish and melodramatic but otherwise a thumbs-up from me.

I was hoping to get your local (in comparison to me, you're local :D ) perspective on it, Matt.

I watched VotD again this morning and I just don't see what the big deal was. And, I just have to laugh about the guy who complained about the whole Titanic thing. He had to feel more than a little sheepish when he found out it was set on a spaceship.

I don't know if anybody who posts or lurks here has taken the time to read The 10 Doctors comic, but page 75 is here and it's a nice recap of everything that's gone on so far so you can get caught up with the story.

Just because there's not much else to talk about in DW these days, somebody called "the futon critic" has named Blink as it's #9 best episode out of the top 50 episodes on TV for 2007. What I don't understand is why there's so much love for Blink, but not for Human Nature/Family of Blood. I've read HN/FoB called "...one of the best things I've ever seen on TV, and I'm including everything I've ever seen on TV when I say that."

Anybody got anything they want to talk about? Seen/bought any good episodes lately? On this site, there used to be mention that the Axons were going to be back in S4, but it appears that isn't the case anymore. In anticipation of their return, I went and watched Claws of Axos, and I have to say, there is definitely a good story just waiting to be told about what might happen if they ever got out of the time loop. The more I think about the possibilities of exploring The Great Time War in some episodes, or a movie, the more I think the fate of the Axons provides a pretty good method for getting the Doctor back into the war.

Here's some new Who stuff to tide you over. Ok, ok, it's just one thing. It's the cinema trailer for S4. Pretty cool trailer.
