Right, there is no Salvation in Judaism since the time the curtain in the Temple was rent is how I myself say it. The Jews may worship God the Father, but they do not worship the Trinity and so they are lost.
Paul argued formt the position that the Jews knew of the true God, as shwon to them in the OT, but unless they also believe in Jesus as Lord Messaih, they die in their sins.

Many here need to understand the immense difference between “Allah” as the linguistic reference to “God” and “Allah” as the religious reference to the god of the Muslims.

Sometimes the references are one-in-the-same; sometimes they are not.

To insist, however, that they are always the same is to demonstrate a woeful ignorance about a great many things.

The God of Islam is not the one of Christianity, as that God denies Jesus Christ is Lord!

paul NEVER said that the jews did not know of the true God, but that unless they believe that Jesus is the Messiah, they would be lost in their sins.

Jesus did, He said their Father was Satan. If you say the Jews worship the true God then you must also allow for that to be true of Muslims. You have no true line to draw between them.

I am saying that the being the Jews call God is the true God, but that they still need to accept Jesus to be saved, but Allah is Not God period!

Jesus dealt with that in John 3 and Paul dealt with that in the book of Romans.
And this is a very, very important point that way too many Christians miss.

In Romans Paul is writing to both believers and unbelievers in Rome. Many of the Jews who fled Jerusalem and the Holy Land during the persecution ended up in Rome.

Paul addresses those Jews in Chapter 10 when he says to them in verse 5 that Moses writes about the Law, which the Jews were still trying to keep.

Then in the following verses he teaches them about Jesus.

Then in verse 9 he says, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord . . . "

To the Jews, the world "Lord" brought to their minds Yahwah. The Jews believed in God the Father. They even believed in God the Holy Spirit in a limited way. But they did NOT believe in Jesus, God the Son!

Paul is saying that all they lack is to believe that Jesus is Yahwah, the Lord of the Old Testament, and they will be saved.

Paul goes on to say, "and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Believing in Jesus's triumph over death is the proof that He is Messiah, the Lord.

Paul recognized, in 60 AD, that the Jews worshiped another God and not the true Triune God.

I know what you are saying and you are making the same false argument the Jews who rejected Jesus did. They do not worship the true God simply because they are Jews. According the the scripture I have already posted the standard is believing in Jesus Christ. Paul himself said that one is only a Jew if............ I will await your answer.

You just stated here that to paul, the fellow jews know of the true God, but also needed to know jesus is Lord, so they know the real God, but do not worship Him in spirit and in truth!

Paul acknowledged that they knew of the real God, and his prayer was that they would beoieve in the Promised Messiah God had sent to them...
They knew of God from the inspired OT, but cannot worship ands know Him in a saving sense apart from Jesus, same as for Gentiles also!

You are not listening to me or scripture. The test is believing in Christ. I did not say it. Go read your bible.
The Jews know about the true God, but unless they receive Jesus Christ, they do not have a relationship with Him. Does their OT teach them about Yahweh or not?

No. I didn't. I, and Paul, clearly stated that the God of the Jews is NOT the Triune God of the bible.

The above is one of the reasons I seldom respond to your nonsense. You can't seem to understand even the simplest sentences. Paul is clearly telling them that JESUS is LORD! By rejecting Him they reject God. There is no Godhead without Jesus!

Of course the God of Christianity and the god of Islam are not one in the same. But you’re missing my point (and Greer’s too): A linguistic reference to Allah (which is the generic word for god in the Arabic language just as our word God is generic for God in English) does not mean one is actually referencing the false god of Islam.

No, that is not what Greear said. He said that Allah and God are the same. Greear's words are It simply means that we are both referring to the only, One deity when we say “God.”

I don’t think you’re making it up, but where exactly in his writing does it say that?

Everyone has seen the excerpts from the book. Everyone has seen his verbatim comments from interviews. Do we need further context? We didn’t get further context about the firing of Patterson. The same people who went after Roy Moore are using the same tactics & getting the same results. The SBC just got rolled.

So the answer, then, is "No;" you haven't read his book or more than the blurb in the linked article. Of course further context is needed. You're accusing a believer and seeking to cause division in doing so. Perhaps you're mad about Patterson and you're seeking retribution against Greear, I don't know. What I do know is that, without full and proper context, you're arguing against a strawman of your own creation.

It may very well be that Greear is wrong in his assessment. However, you are also in the wrong in what you are doing here.

Thank you for the response, and I agree with much of what you wrote.

Honestly, I'm more concerned with the charismaticism and speaking in tongues quotes. At least with his muslim engagement the conversation is focusing on God, not the "hey everyone, look at what I can do" of the charismatics.
So, tongues is now more important than saying Allah is Jehovah?

I like J.D. Greear. I still see his views on who Allah is as being apostate. I understand where he is coming from, but he is wrong.
